I dunno man, that description on Rest makes it sound like that will sell out first...

bummer, the release isn't this weekend. Guess I'll have to come to SD again in August.

Awesome that they aren't allowing proxies!

They didn't allow proxies for it last time. It's still going to sell out in seconds.

No proxies :slight_frown:... didn't someone mention that AleSmith sold some bottles online last time too?

If that was mentioned then it was incorrect. AleSmith had kegs but that was it. All bottles went to Urge (and obviously to each employee).

Does anyone know if this Rest is the same as Bruery's Rest that was recently released? It was very nice, but nothing over the top. I know they are all part of the collarboration, but wondering if this is like the RDF where they each put their own spin on it.

I think I answered my own question. I checked the link and the label looks like it is the Bruery's label. Same as RS I think

FYI, there is no end date for the exchange/refund. Great policy, drink at your leisure.

In that post about the refund emails sent out it states "REFUND If you would like a refund, come by our Tasting Room between July 17th and August 17th during the hours of 11AM and 10PM Monday through Saturday, or 11AM and 9PM Sunday, and we will refund your purchase."

Unless you received a different email than the rest of us, there is in fact an end-date for refund. There is no end date listed if you just want to swap though.

A Message from AleSmith Brewing Company:

Old Rumskull is beer that we’d been dreaming of making for a long time. It was made using our award-winning Barleywine aged in 23-year-old rum barrels from Nicaragua. Can’t miss, right?

That’s why we were so bummed to hear about the off-flavors our customers were tasting in the bottles. After running comprehensive quality tests on several bottles we had saved, we found the presence of wild yeast and souring bacteria in some of our aging barrels.

    So, what does that mean?

The carefully selected and inspected barrels this beer was aged in are made of oak, which is very porous. Usually, these pores provide a ton of amazing flavor compounds that impart delicious notes of vanilla and caramel. Unfortunately, those pores can also harbor microbes that can change the flavor of beer in an unintended way, which is what happened in this case.

If you stored your bottles below 40F, they have most likely retained the rich, caramelly flavors that we intended. Those that were stored warmer may have reacted negatively causing flavor change. This in no way is harmful to consume, however, not the ideal flavor profile we intended.

    What’s the next step?

If you feel your purchased bottle of Old Rumskull had these negative flavor attributes, we want to make it right. Here are your options:

    REFUND

If you would like a refund, come by our Tasting Room starting July 17th during the hours of 11AM and 10PM Monday through Saturday, or 11AM and 9PM Sunday, and we will refund your purchase. We can verify your purchase through Eventbrite, so all you will need to bring is your Driver’s License or Passport, and your full/empty bottle(s). Refunds will only be given in person.

    SWAP

We have several delicious barrel-aged beers currently available in bottles in our Tasting Room (Please contact us for current inventory). If you’d like to swap your bottle of Old Rumskull for one of a different beer and/or merchandise of equal or lesser value, excluding .394 and Sublime Mexican Lager products due to the nature of our arrangements with the Gwynns and the band, you can come to the Tasting Room starting July 17th and we’ll make the trade. We will also be unable to swap your bottle for one from an upcoming special release due to the limited nature of those releases. And again, we can verify your purchase through Eventbrite but you will need to come to the Tasting Room in person and bring your identification and bottle(s).

    OUT OF TOWN REQUESTS

We are assessing the procedure for these requests on a case-by-case basis. In order to initiate your refund or swap process, please email [email protected] and provide your full name, email address, and mailing address.

    Going forward

We are committed to making the highest quality beers possible, and sometimes that requires us to learn from our mistakes. We truly appreciate your support and we promise that we will continue to learn, try new things, and uphold our commitment to our loyal customers. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We hope to see you for our next bottle release, which we will strive to make a better customer experience.

I've only had about 9oz of a 7% beer so I'm pretty sure my literacy skills aren't compromised at the moment. That said, where are you seeing an end date in the refund section?

Are we to assume the "different beer and/or merchandise of equal or lesser value" includes any of the "cellar" BA offerings that are usually offered for sale there?

My OP was from a FB message from Alesmith to me. I posted the change/correction (no end date for the exchange/refund) as a point of clarification to the email that was sent out yesterday. To me, the no end date exchange/refund seemed too good to be true. I confirmed via email with Alesmith that this is in fact, the case.

From the email I received yesterday:

    "REFUND

Looks like we got the same e-mail, after all. I'm surprised that @wheelzntoys seemed to get a different e-mail than everyone else, though. Curious.
