Really excited for all of the laps on Friday, ordered 2 VIP's and 1 of everything else for the GF and myself. Man I hope the Sea Salt BA Viet variant from A&S doesn't kick, I've heard nothing but great things. See you all there!

That almost 9hr Alesmith session yesterday....good times.

VIP lap I would put BA coffee cake > BA coconut/vanilla > BA pb viet > Todfather

A surprise to me was the chocolate chip cookie speedway on lap 1.

Just bustin' your balls man, curious to hear feedback but Matt's notes in SDBF were pretty helpful on what to expect.

Yes, they have tape behind the counter or you can tape it up yourself to cover the logo ahead of your visit.

Just left Alesmith and had a great time. The mezzanine is a much welcome addition and there was plenty of room for everyone all throughout the night. The GF and I tried every lap variant and found most really enjoyable. My favorite beer of the night was single barrel from anvil and stave. Unfortunately sea salt and velvet kicked :slight_frown:.

I'll have to look at my notes again but the Speedway with chocolate chip cookies was my favorite (I think). Fun times all around, the beers this year were much better than last year imo. Thanks alesmith!

Ha, I appeared on Alesmith's IG. Such an honor....and apparently before I decided to get all clean cut and look almost slightly respectable.

Morning, it was damn cold, almost like 50 degrees, and holding the can for all of the pictures they wanted to take made it that much colder. Plus they really keep their warehouse/canning line area chilly.

Edit: Also the "hobo gloves" allow me to continue working and pounding away on the keyboard of my laptop while stuck inside datacenters. I have regular gloves, but just not the same.

In your expert opinions... I have a BAVSS and a rBAVSS both chilling in the beer fridge, which would you drink first and why?

bavss while I had the rbavss sitting out warming up to cellar temp.

I love bavss, quite a bit, but the spice in rbavss is a wonderful addition to an already fantastic beer.

    Yes.

Its to prevent any unwanted guac contact obviously. Dem his burrito gloves.

Always nervous about cellering coffee stouts, afraid that fantastic coffee will drop off in time.

Had a '14 bavss during sdbw. Still tasted great. I tend to not cellar non-BA coffee stouts for too long (ex. hawaiian speedway) but I like to think the barrel-aging helps to retain a lot of the coffee (ex. BA kopi speedway)

I was discussing this with a friend, and he believes Alesmith (and also trystero for HPB) holds up well without the green pepper flavor is that they do a long roast so it's "second crack" coffee.

Supposedly most coffee that's in beer has only been roasted to the point it's cracked once during this time, which may attribute it to its lesser lifespan.

Full disclosure: I only drink my coffee in beer, far from a coffeeadvocate, so don't know if this was common knowledge.
