While watching an early January episode of a prime time drama on demand today (won't mention the show or network to avoid this getting deleted), I did a double take and had to hit rewind on a scene set inside a bar with a red wall and big Cantillon logo. Turns out it was an on location shoot at Alewife in Long Island City. I'm guessing those who are regulars there or follow them on Twitter knew about this a while ago, but it was a pleasant surprise to me. Anyone know the story behind this?
Tweet if you're curious: it was from early jan https://twitter.com/alewifenyc/status/552986983149350913
I've been on a long-term project in Long Island City for work over the past few years, so I am there frequently. There is a studio (maybe multiple studios?) in the area that shoots scenes for tv shows fairly often near where Alewife is located. By chance, I've stumbled upon a few of them in action which was pretty cool. Only downside is they occasionally block off tons of street parking which makes an already difficult situation even more impossible to bear. Nice to hear Cantillon had a prime time cameo!
kaufman astoria studios films all over astoria and LIC. Blue Bloods, Good Wife, Nurse Jackie, Orange is the New Black....etc. It's a killer for parking
