Going down for a long weekend to catch the Yankees / Nationals ...

Is there any good beer to be had at Nationals Park? If so, where in the Park?

Also, best bet for restaurant or bottleshop in Alexandria?

Pizzeria Paradiso for a restaurant around Alex. If you're going to be around for the whole weekend, hop on metro and go to Connecticut Ave. Liquor and the P Street Whole Foods (Dupont Stop- Red Line) Rodman's is a couple of blocks south of Friendship Heights (again, red line). If you have a car, hit up Norm's in Vienna. Great place.

I still need to visit there. When I was down two weeks ago visiting a friend, we were going to stop by after Churchkey but upon looking at their website they closed at midnight! :astonished:

Haven't been to Pizzeria Paradiso in Old Town. A little bit out of Old Town, though, is Rustico (Google Maps should find them).

For bottleshops, you have Market 2 Market in Del Ray or Rick's on Duke Street just west of Old Town.

One of the local brews is Port City just a bit further down Duke than Ricks. Growlers and pints on premises (can't speak tot he hours).

The lower level of the Red Porch in outfield. They have 2 dogfish and I think 1 heavy seas. I didn't try looking anywhere else in the stadium because I heard it was bad news. Grab two if your seats aren't close.

go to Red Porch at the ball park.

Pizza Paradiso in Old Town Alexandria for beer options, there are also some great places to eat in Old Town depending (not as much as DC proper) but the beer selections will be rather ordinary.

Obviously biased, but stop into Ricks. If you come in on Saturday after noon, we will have a tasting going on. We are right on Duke street between Telegraph and Quaker lane, in a shopping center.

Definatley check out Rustico if you have time. It is owned by the same people as church key. It is on the outskirts of old town alexandria. Two casks and around 30 good drafts no BMC. They have their draft list posted on their website.

I was at Nationals Park 2 weeks ago. They had 90 Min and Indian Brown plus Hennepin on tap at Red Porch. You can find Sierra Nevada Pale at a couple locations plus some Starr Hill offerings. You have to do some searching. For pre-post game beers head over to Justin's Cafe, a short walk from the stadium (http://www.justinscafe.com).

Thanks for the suggestions. Is Red Porch an enclosed restuarant / can I walk back to my seats with a beer from there?

You can definitely take your beer with you. Walked around with a couple Hennepins.

Definitely check out Rustico, good beer and food. As for the Nats game, nothing great but they had DF60, SNPA, a few different Sam Adams at the stands around the stadium, I haven't been to the Red Porch. There is a Total Wine not too far from Old Town also.

If you're staying in Old Town w/ limited mobility, I'll throw in a nod for the Whole Foods on Duke St. Not a world-class selection, but some good local options, plus growler fills of 8 or so different beers (at least last time I was there about 9 months ago).

For Old Town beer bars, Pizzeria Paradiso and Rustico are the way to go. Columbia Firehouse is good as well. Small, but thoughtful draft list (same owners as Churchkey, like Rustico).

Thanks again. Any issue with bringing a one year old at dinner time to rustico or pizza paradiso?

No one will notice a child awake or asleep at either. It gets pretty loud at both.
