Just put an all Citra DIPA on ... eerily similar to Double Sunshine. Dangerously drinkable. Can't get enough!

I have a brew day coming up and I want to do an all citra ale but I am scared of the cat pee.. I have in the past brewed a very successful cascade/citra ale that turned out great. The cascade and citra seem to play well together. Basically im brewing that again with twice the whirlpool whole cone additions of cascade and citra. Bittering additions were glacier btw.

I just don't get cat pee from Citra at all. Only time I've ever really picked up on cat pee aroma was in an all Simcoe IPA that was rather old. The stale Simcoe definitely had some hints of cat pee.

Do you or anyone else have the Malowicki paper or know where I can find it? The one that keeps popping up in my searches has been "redacted for privacy" by OSU and you need login credentials to view it.

Citra is a mighty powerful hop...
Okay, I have brewed citra apa's and ipa's. I liken citra to the bastard child of dank weed and mangoes. That's what I get, period. I enjoy the flavor and have used it in the boil, as a flameout addition, and as a dryhop addition. I like what it brings at flameout as well as during dryhopping. Citra plays well with chinook and amarillo. I used it with centennial and wasn't too impressed. I really enjoy it by itself though. I understand where people say its catty, I would prefer to describe it as dank, skunky, or musky. It doesn't come across as cat pee to me. My next batch will use a pound of citra with ctz for bittering. I told my friend if citra was a woman, my wife should be worried. Ha ha.
