First time using S-189 dry lager yeast...best of a dozen lagers I've brewed so far...AFUCKINMAZING Anyone else had luck with a Hoppy American Lager? this one was only DHed with 2 oz...just right though, imho...cheers all
Yep brewed a Hoponius Union clone last year with 5 ounces of centennial and 3 ounces citra and wlp830 German lager yeast. One of my favorites!
May be a dumb question, but do you lager an IPL before dry hopping, or just DH in primary or keg after fermenting is complete (like an IPA)?
Never mind. Google showed me NB carries it. 6$ a pack though would lead me to probably just buy liquid.
What can you tell us about that yeast? Do you find it equal or better then 34/70 or some other liquid strains?
All I know is it (2 sachets) fermented without detectable diacetyl, very little sulfur, and was ready to drink in 6 weeks. Caveat: I hopped and DHed this one with American hops which may have obscured some of the more subtle attributes.
