I personally do not perceive onion in Grunion but I have read posts by others that they do taste onion in that beer.

I'm another Grunion fan. Sometimes I get lucky and the local Wegmans will mark them in the create a pack section. They've had regular and grapefruit Sculpin in there too. Not always the freshest, but solid to get a nice deal on those brews.

Right now, it's this one: Calvert Good Company. I've brought home a few growlers full of this, and recently bought a couple six-packs. When I think of a solid everyday pale ale that I actually want to drink every day, this is the one that comes to mind.

I *REALLY* wish this brewer would start bottle dating, however (though they are very young, to be fair...)

I used to really enjoy Harpoon Ale, but I believe it's been brewery only for several years now.

While it may be a bit regional, I really enjoy Grateful Pale Ale from Starr Hill Brewing in Charlottesville, VA.

FW Pale 31 is the best pale ale when it is not cold out, and at 4.9% is a way better "session IPA" than any of those dirty hop water brews...

If it were 2 bucks a bottle, I'd splurge pretty often, but at 13.99 per I'm more inclined to look at IPA's or seasonal APA's and save the Grunion for special occasions. Hop Trip will definitely occupy a large space in my beer fridge this weekend!
