Curious why it says dry hop 2 weeks when pros are saying 3/4 days max.

    Depends on the pro?

Vinnie Cilurzo wrote an article for Zymurgy magazine which includes a recipe for Pliny the Elder. In that article he states:

“For Pliny the Elder, we dry hop for 12 to 14 days.”

    Cheers!

There has been a recent trend toward shorter dry hop times, because some studies have shown that maximum (or near maximum) extraction of hop aroma/flavor compounds (particularly the generally more desirable "fruity" ones) is attained in a couple of days.

I'd recommend "The New IPA" by Scott Janish for further information on this.

For me, DH no more than 5-7 days. Went longer in the past but shorter I s preferable for me.

There are a number of considerations during dry hopping beyond extraction of hop essential oils.

At HomebrewCon 2018 there was a presentation on Better Hopping through Science were Doug Brown discussed the aspect of diacetyl production during the dry hopping phase. He related that Breakside Brewing had to extend their dry hopping duration to 7+ days to permit the diacetyl levels to be reduced to below perceptible levels.

Another aspect is Hop Creep. Thomas Shellhammer has studied this and sufficient time needs to be permitted otherwise if the beer is packaged ‘prematurely’: “If the beer has already been packaged the additional CO2 produced during fermentation can lead to exploding cans/bottle bombs.” This is analogous to homebrewers who bottle condition their beers.

    Cheers!

    Leaving the dry-hopping time behind...
Looks like a beer I wouldn't mind trying. If I were to brew it, I'd have to make so many substitutes given my current inventory, I don't know that it'd be even close to the original idea. Would still be a good IPA, though... I might fuck with it.

From what I’ve seen Other Half dry hops for 2 days at ferm temps after fermentation has completed and yeast has been removed. As long as the beer passes VDK then it’s crashed, fuged, and packaged. I think they can turn and burn a DDH IIPA in like 13 days.

That must be some sort of typo.

I've always wondered if he's telling the truth. Highly doubt a Brewery would give away the recipe to their best seller.

I've read the recipe has changed a few times. Notice the extract and i believe that's dry hopping on day 8&11 since starting the fermentation.
