I am a big fan of interlude. But at $20 a bottle minimum it makes its tough to be a frequent drinker. Are there any other wine barrel saisons out there for less and of similar taste?

For a mixed-fermentation, barrel aged, strong saison....$20 seems reasonable. You won't find much for cheaper.

(compare to $15 for half as much Allagash Tiarna)

nope. you get what you pay for i'm afraid. interlude is unique. the best you could do is hill farmstead saisons, which are rarer and more expensive.

if you have expensive tastes and don't like to pay the price, maybe homebrew? i guess you could try mystic and trillium, but really you're not going to find any similar beers without paying more.

Interlude is really unique and delicious. Its a hard price to fork over for the bottle, but its something that you arent going to find easily replaceable. As you said OP, it is a tough bottle to have frequently. But when you get it, it will be all the more appreciated.

Not that you can find on the shelf, no. It's relatively amazing that they produce enough Interlude to have it widely available for most of the year and that it's only $20 a bottle. The only comparables I could think of are POSSIBLY the Mystic wine barrel fermented saisons (h/t to Pahn), although IMO they don't hold a candle to Interlude, and they're not cheap themselves (although IIRC they are less than $20 a bottle).
