Just had this beer over the weekend and thought it was pretty good. What beers that are out on the market are similar? Thanks
I've had very nice hoppy brett beers from Anchorage, Trinity, Almanac, Grimm, Kent Falls, maybe a few others. Sloop's Confliction is just lacto/hoppy but it's a damn fine beer. These can all be mega pricey and/or hard to find, though. What I love about Little Brett is that it also has the price/availability that no one else seems to be producing at the moment.
I agree with @TongoRad that the price and availability of Little Brett is hard to beat. Don't know what your NY distro looks like but we get limited quantities of Prarie in Maine and the Funky Gold series is similar. Mikkeler also makes a selection of nice Brett beers. Stone enjoy after (which I haven't drank yet). My favorite of the hoppy funky beers so far was Bouket from Trillium and De Proef.
Havent had it so can't say it tastes similar.. But lagunitas aunt Sally's seems to be up that alley.. Little Brett was amazing tho. Need to get more now that I'm thinking about it.
I'm with @TongoRad , in that the price and packaging is key to that beer. There's little else like it. Since it's in a six pack, Two Brothers Bretter Day is an even cheaper buy under average conditions, but it's not as ubiquitous by me. I've only had a single of it, but I definitely hope to encounter Bretter Day again.
Question: If you let Little Brett sit for a year or so, will it sour up some more or is sourness something it either has or doesn't have from the beginning? I just found Little Brett to be very, very dry with no sourness or tartness and an almost aspirin like bitter quality.
Allagash recommends you drink Little Brett within 6 months mainly because of their use of Dry hopping with Mosaic hops play an important role in the flavor profile of the beer.
