It goes on sale this coming monday.

Description of the beer from the Allagash website:

"Few things are more synonymous with Maine than blueberries. After years of making fruit beers, Little Sal is our first ever blueberry beer. Little Sal was brewed with one pound of Maine blueberries per gallon and aged with both pediococcus and lactobacillus in a single oak red wine barrels. The finished beer is dark amber in color, with a fluffy, pink head. The aroma has blueberry, oak and earthiness throughout. The flavor is vinous with lingering blueberry and a moderate tartness. Biscuity notes give way to a juicy sweetness that is followed by a long, drying finish.
    6.1% Alc. By Vol."

Does anyone know if this beer is a coolship beer or are they using some other base beer and just inoculating it with the bugs? Either way, I am incredibly excited to try this.

I dont think its coolship. Their website doesnt list it under the coolship series, but under the limited edition series (alongside merveilleux, midnight brett, Tiarna, etc). It does sound delicious.

If it was a coolship beer it would say so.

Hoping they mess around with the blueberries+coolschip eventually.

While not a coolship, Farm to Face looks to be promising.

On a sidenote, i asked about a blueberry coolship a couple of years ago and was told something along the lines of - "it's too cliche for a maine brewery, everyone's expecting us to do something like that"

I asked the same question and got the exact same response. I guess they are running out of original ideas. Joking aside I think this is going to be really good.

"1# blueberries per gallon".. Not to be a downer, but from my experience with blueberries this beer will not have a lot of blueberry character. Nonetheless..ISO!

Ah, I wonder if the name is based off of one of my favorite books to read to my daughter when she was little, Blueberries for Sal? Very cute of them if it is. Hope it hits distro in MA.

Thats too bad, there's nothing cliche about using some of your locale's greatest ingredients.

Still, I am super excited to pick up a bottle or two this afternoon.

They only produced 400 bottles and there was a very large crowd there. Thanks to Allagash for the donuts and samples of victor and session brett

Missed it also, had to work till 12, called at 11:29 and it was sold out. Announcement came out minutes later after I called.

More money for oxbow bottles isn't a bad thing.
