The wife and I are going to be staying in Alpine this week so I'm curious if there are any good beer stores in either of those places. I searched the forum and found lots of hits for Alpine Brewing Co in CA and Marfa appears not once. Sad times Marfa. Anyways, I doubt it but does anyone know of good beer joints out that way? Oh and i'm for sure hitting up Big Bend Brewing Company!

I'd recommend buying beer before heading that direction. El Paso or San Antonio will have the best selections depending on what direction you're coming from. You might be able to get Sierra Nevada in Alpine.

The last time I drove through Marfa I saw a place named "El Cheapo" maybe some vintage Pearl can be scored there.

Reach out to Big Bend before you go, they're under construction again.

Nothing out there, go to El Paso.

The French Grocery in marathon has Big Bend beers in stock but little other craft. The #22 Porter is excellent.

And type in 79831 for Alpine.

And type in 79843 for Marfa.

Profit. I think it would be reasonable to guess that the best beer store in either of those towns would likely be on there.

The one I went to was one there but they had a sign about kegs. I don't believe these guys bottle. Hhhhmmm, maybe I should convince my wife it makes sense to buy the two of us a keg for three days… Plus side, I picked up a sixes of Dale's Pale Ale that was canned last month. Oh and I've got my bottle of Proprietors for NYE tomorrow. :grinning:

Edit-Aaaaaand scratch that. They clearly can upon further review. Not sure how I missed them… Hhhhmmm. The search will continue.

    The Borderlands are sparse craft-wise.

    A cultural vacuum.

Last time I was out that way I scored a couple of sixers of Big Bend brewing at Celebration Liquor on Holland Ave/90 on the west side of Alpine. Rinky dinky store, but they had a few craft beers there.

The Get Go grocery store in Marfa has some nice beer and wine for sale (more wine than beer) but haven't seen Big Bend there.

In Marathon, the White Buffalo bar had all the Big Bend Beers on tap. Cool bar too. Also, eat at the bar and skip the restaurant. Beer + Burger in the bar far exceeded the fancy schmancy food the restaurant served.

Celebration is where I got sixers of Tejas and Terlingua Gold. I got my fix! Thanks for the suggestions.

I was. It was a nice little brewery and the folks were great. They have a RIS fermenting right now called Marfa Lights. The logo for it is really cool and I believe it'll be in bombers only. The tour was "oh just head back there and we will pour you a beer and answer questions". I mingled for a good hour.
