I say its a good thing. When your beer reaches out to a farther audience, your sales go up and you can keep on brewing, while fans who would absolutely love to try your beer finally get the chance. Granted I understand this can seem a daunting thing, such as to lose ones cult following. But as long as the brewery remains true to their roots and doesn't get a big head and lose their craft mentality, I don't think a little extra exposure would hurt Heady nor Pliny as well as others!

I wonder if Alpine is going out east for good or GF is just doing it to kinda tease people and make them want to come out and try it on the west coast.

That doesn't seem likely man. Probably just gonna be out there now. I'm super stoked to have it in Seattle and on good authority that it's not a ruse

Love this story! Just imagining the joy you felt brings a smile to my face.

Anaxagoris is right, the purchase by Green Flash certainly boosted their ability to enter new markets. Dammit if this doesn't undermine my ability to trade Alpine for some delicious East Coast beverages...

    Cheers!

Firestone recently brewed a few batches of Pliny the Elder while RR was upsizing some equipment. It is possible but not too likely.

Once these beers become easily accessible then they aren't as good as in years past....

That was just to keep the breweries supply going during the transition, not to add to the overall quantity of Pliny. Nor does FW own or have anything to do with RR except that they are friendly brewers who like to share equipment. Still probably wont see Pliny in Boston.

Alpine, via Green Flash, is currently "testing" a variety of new markets. The beers aren't really formally available on the east coast yet, but several cities (NYC, D.C., and it looks like Boston now) have gotten a taste of some of the good stuff to try out.

Word is that Green Flash will be running these "tests" over the next couple of months, then take a little while to regroup and figure out how they want to distribute moving forward.

Hoppy Birthday is really, really good. If it was better before all of this went down, well, whatever...

ExPo is OUTSTANDING. Their IPAs are on another level (Duet has a unique smell but trust me, it tastes out of this world). I had Hoppy Birthday at Green Flash's tasting room in January and it still tasted very good … couldn't tell a difference … so based on that experience and a talk with a knowledgeable employee pouring beer that night, I'm hoping that some national distribution of Alpine is on the horizon very soon.

For anyone who has been to Alpine's brewpub next door to the brewery, how awesome are the smoked wings?

Just visited Alpine two days ago...great spot, great beer. Small enough not to be conceited, but they have every right to be.

Going to LA and San Diego for work later this month. Hope to get at least one bottle Alpine. I've only had a sampling of Alpine before, it was pretty good.
