Just saw a posting about a collaboration between Alpine and New Belgium for the Lips of Faith series. It's called super IPA.
I just can't seem to land any of those in a trade. The wife's going to get a trip to SD soon if I can't get any soon.
I think they're hard to find even in San Diego. I only get them once in a blue moon because my cousin lives in San Diego and will occasionally drive out to Alpine (which is not close). Can't wait to make it out to Obrien's next month and maybe even out to the brewery.
Hardly anyone carries Alpine. The brewery is a shack about as big as my master bedroom =) They have very limited distribution and usually whatever they send sells out same day. Nelson is generally gone for a month at a time till the next bottling. Right now PH and Duet are out, Nelson out. They have a few shelf rot beers like Captain Stout, Willy, Alpine Ale, and Mandarin Nectar which are always in stock. I wish they'd kill those and just make their IPAs.
I had the collab from Alpine and NB that was brewed at Alpine called Gouden Vallei, it was really good: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3120/80178/?ba=quirkzoo I am down in Colorado Springs but I have a regular trading partner that often throws in some Alpine offerings, I am always happy to share
There are 2 collaboration beers between Alpine and New Belgium this year: The first, Gouden Vallei, was brewed, bottled, and sold only at Alpine. It was a Belgian-style IPA brewed with pink peppercorns. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3120/80178 The second, a DIPA, will be brewed and bottled at New Belgium, and will be available throughout their entire distribution network.
The Alpine folks were at New Belgium on Monday for the brewing of Super IPA. I'm really hoping the NB folks just stepped aside and said, "do your thing" b/c NB's IPAs blow.
I also really liked Fresh Hop. But i also really like Ranger... But yeah. Alpine kicks ass. There IPAs are so good... Nelson is my fave from them..
