Life isn't even worth living at that point. Might as well drink Stella.

38 degrees prices have sure steadily gone up and up, the happy hour is basically non-existent anymore too.

Yeah, folks keep saying that shit's affordable, but I guess it's all relative. I don't go out too much because price is prohibitive and happy hour seems to be an antiquated concept at most places.

I had some Nelson and HB at other spots and they were cheaper by a buck or 2. The Happy Hour is a joke at 38° now, every beer I'd want to drink has a little asterisk next to it. Used to stop often on the way home from work, but it's not worth it anymore at $8 a pour for most everything.

Just grabbed at Lucky's Tavern in Hollywood -- but $6.50 for an 8 oz. pour (cue pricing conversation). Seems they're on the back-end of the keg.

Beer belly had it for $7, I think. I was to distracted with $4 fortunate islands.

$4 Fortunate Islands is a dangerous proposition

Yeah -- Fortunate Islands has become a favorite because of how reasonably priced it is (and it's delicious, of course, too). Couldn't believe the pricetag on Nelson.

All the comments about 38 degrees are pretty spot on. They deliver great food and there's usually several quality taps but all the better ones are 8-12 bucks a pour.

Nelson is on at Slater's 50/50 in Anaheim Hills right now for $7/pint.

Off topic heads up: They currently also have Bear Republic Tartare on tap, which I ordered without hesitation. It arrived in a 12oz snifter, with probably only 10oz of actual beer. When I got my bill, I saw the Tartare at $15!! I've got no complaints on the Nelson price, but $15 for 10oz of Tartare was a shock. Oh well, lesson learned....

Never order a full pour from slaters when a flight of four 4/5oz tasters is a flat $10.

Apologies if this is already covered in this thread but I'm wondering if a growler fill of Nelson while at Alpine is brewed their on site, but the local places with it on tap is the GF brew? Reason I ask, I had a Nelson pour at PP Bressi Ranch a few nights ago; and I just now cracked a growler filled from Alpine, and it is very different.

Pizza Port would definitely have the GF Nelson. AFAIK, the only draft accounts that were slated to still get it from Alpine were Toronado and O'Brien's.

I didn't realize they were still kegging at Alpine. Couldn't they just put out more bottles instead of having two different batches of their kegged beers floating around out there?

Well they still gotta keg stuff to put on tap in the pub and for growler fills.
