He was not tried for any crime, a grand jury was convened to decide whether or not to indict him. A lack of indictment is considerably different from a not guilty verdict, in that a prosecutor could still choose to bring charges against a defendant if a grand jury does not indict the defendant.

You should heed your own advice.

True, but very hard to do so. You have to argue in front of a trial judge that you have enough to prosecute and basically explain why the Grand Jury is wrong. It's a losing proposition unless new evidence has come to light.

Let's get this back about beer though. Has anyone ever had BA Odin's Raven recently? I got a bottle recently but it has only okay reviews. It seems like a lot of the reviews stem from some infection problems with it in the past though.

I opened a bottle about a month or two ago, and it was fantastic. It was MUCH better than when I had it on tap at Alpine.

There is far less of an excuse for nonviolent criminals being shot and killed in the street. And there is a huge disproportion of this happening to people of color as compared to white people. Since the craft beer scene is predominantly white I really don't expect to see much empathy out of this community in regards to these scenarios....but still, just so disappointed by the end if that newsletter.

I have to admit I doubt you'd be as excited about Pat being willing to give off his opinion without worrying about being politically correct if he'd said the cop's story is very hard to believe and has some inconsistencies and that the prosecutor should have, you know, done some cross examination and stuff.

PEOPLE WERE LATE TO WORK!!! SOMEONE MUST GO TO JAIL!!!

If you can't see the issue with ~30 people using themselves and cars to block off a major freeway, and think the only issue is people being late to work and mock me for it, well then you are a fool and I don't know why I'm wasting my time replying here.

That fact that nothing was done gives these idiots, and idiots cut from the same cloth,a pass to do it again. As someone already stated, this caused a traffic jam between two major hospitals. Maybe they got lucky and a life wasn't affected by this asinine stunt, but they just got lucky.

The reason why I bring up someone being late for work is because if you would watch the video, you'd see one of the most vocal against this protest was a black man who said he was going to lose his job because he was late.

Let's try and stay on topic, people. Alpine. Specifically, Alpine's beers and not so much with the crazy proprietor's politics.

Just popped a bottle of Duet and it's under-carbed and kinda sweet. Anyone else experience this lately? Very bummed as it's my favorite IPA of all time. Thought my taste buds were fried from too much good food, but it is definitely undercarbed. The nose is off, too.

Omg shut up. Then un-shut up and talk about beer again. Regretting not picking up Alpine growlers for today. Football is better when Nelson is flowing freely

Back on topic, I was a little surprised Pat didn't say anything about selling to Green Flash. Aside from re-posting the Peter Rowe story on Facebook, I haven't seen anything from Alpine about the sale.

Think it was more directed at the step father? As a former firefighter, I could definitely see Pat taking exception to the "burn this bitch down" call.

I was not surprised at all that it got conveniently ignored.

Victim blaming is wrong every time. Why has no-one posted the full newsletter?

I'm crazy enough to read that paragraph as the cops being the ones with amoral upbringing and dressing up as thugs every day. But i'm pretty sure that's not how he meant it.

A little off topic but since this an Alpine thread, I was seeing if anyone could answer the question. I'll be in SD later this month, can you buy bottles-to-go at the pub or only the brewery? Don't think I can make the brewery hours. Thanks in advance.

If the brewery is closed, the pub will usually have a very limited supply of bottles for to-go sales. I think on the pub side, it's limit 2 bottles of each beer whereas the brewery side is limit 3, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I was able to walk out with 3 bottles of Duet and Pure Hoppiness from the pub last sunday, so you can get at least 3 from the pub. They restocked the little fridge after I made my purchase so they appear to usually have more around. I did not try to get more than 3 of each since I figured brewery limits would carry over to pub (but there is no sign in the pub that says a limit, so you can try but don't be surprised if they say "No, you cannot take 12 of the Nelsons home with you.").

It is a 2 bottle limit per style in the brewpub, but it seems lax as long as they have the bottles and you're not an ass.

Yeah after I bought mine they busted out 2 boxes and fully refilled. I am going to guess that I got lucky and if I went for 3 of multiple styles again it would not happen inside the pub.

Plus we were there for a bit, ordered food and quite a few beers so maybe that pushed me into the "ok, I guess this time we can let him buy this much" category.
