I thought I read that here awhile back. But wasn't sure if it was HFS or Hop Box. Anyways I thought it was pretty good...even if it was brew'd at GF. Better than Duet or PH.

Alpine on Facebook said Nelson on tap at Alpine tasting room only. Batch should last 2 weeks. Maybe OG? I actually checked this thread to see if anyone tried it....

It is another GF brewed batch, on for fills. Far from the OG but if you need to scratch that old itch give it a shot. As the boys will tell you at the tasting room when asked about whether its OG or GF, " we haven't brewed Nelson here in over two years " meaning they probably never will again as long as they are part of GF.

    Cheers,

I see Alpine/GF released Expo today. I also see that its got the newer GF/Alpine label AND....the limit is ONE case of 22oz bombers. Did anyone actually drive up the hill for this and if so, how is it ?

    Cheers,

It's not about the label, rather the bottle. Up the hill, they still use the old bottling line. That will tell you where it's made

Wait, is one case not a lot? Seems like a lot in this day and age where people spend hours in line for 8 cans.

Per the ig page, expo is made at alpine not gf. New label, but still brewed by them (for now)

In Fall 2014, which May have been the last release, it was 2 bottle per person via brown paper ticket. It sold out pretty quickly. Also, the beer is awful, and I still have 1 of my 2 bottles left. I went in about 2 weeks after having my bottle and asked if they had issues. I then was given a sample in the brewery and it tasted like what I got. I think it is the oak in it that ruins it for me.
I am hoping that 2014 bottle is starting to taste like a barrel aged barleywine now.

Lol I have a 2014 in the fridge too! So ready for my barleywine :grinning:

But I don't know why I never drank it. Must've forgot about it

The limit raised a red flag for me, In all the years I bought Alpine I never saw limits this high, hence my thoughts that this was brewed on a LARGE system, i.e GF, not that I would buy this anymore, my days of high ABV beers are behind me.

    Cheers

Had a couple excellent beers (Unique and Broken Tiles) at the brew pub today. I need to swing out this way more often.

Am I missing something? My understanding is that Pat McIlhenney has been recused/stepped/pushed off the table at GF. And not of his own doing mind you. His desire for quality control for the Alpine brand has run into some, well, shall we say..resistance. Anyone have info on this??

Apologies is this has been asked many times here.......Is there a born on date on the bottles (GF/Alpine)?

I believe it's a best buy date. And I recall it seeming a bit liberal. My Windows Up bottle, purchased a week ago, said September, IIRC.

Six months I believe. Cause, you know, an IPA at seven months is just not good.

Is Windows Up / Hop Boxed a seasonal or year round offering? Just showed up in MN the last couple weeks and the stuff we are drinking here was is damn dank! Wondering if I need to stock pile it or it it will be around for a bit.

    thanks

It is flagged as year-round, but hop contracts will determine if it stays that way or not. You should be good for a while.
