God I really hope this one experience (that we know of) doesn't turn Alpine away from ever using BPT again.

My theory: Since GF is making the kegged beers, Alpine has more beers to bottle.

Good point, but was Alpine kegging beers for distro before GF came onto the scene? My understanding is that Alpine brewed beers were hardly ever available even in the SD area and that it wasn't until GF started brewing that we saw Alpine at various bars.

Before GF, if you wanted Alpine....you went to Alpine.

That's what I thought. Then the question becomes: Is GF bottling Alpine beers from their batches and if so how do know which ones those are? Because Alpine Nelson is very different from GF Nelson.

I want to say all bottles out there are from Alpine, but I have no information that would back up my claim.

Bottles still seem to be rather scarce around the city and only a few usually have them. Based on the location of the shops that frequently get them, I would make the assumption that it comes only from Alpine. If GF was bottling I would expect a shload more bottles to exist.

I haven't had GF Alpine yet, or so I think. Do you guys think you'd be able to differentiate the two in a blind taste? Some people can barely pick Pliny out of a "shelf" DIPA lineup. Just wondering if it's partially psychological.

Yes and without a doubt. The GF version smells and tastes like a clone when you taste it side by side. In a bind, GF Nelson will do just fine.

All bottles currently are coming from Alpine. They have started bottling more of the batches they brew up there since GF batches are being used to serve keg accounts.

Or Toronado, O'Brien's, Harp, San Diego Brewing Co. or other places where Alpine was distributed.

More than likely. Got there a little after 1, got in that 5 person line, grabbed bottles, and then sat down with some buddies that were saving me a seat for a couple hours

Hindsight I should have waited until I was done being social to grab bottles...but oh well

I would assume that if GF was bottling Alpine products that bottles would be available at the GF taproom. Has anyone seen Alpine bottles there before? I'm assuming no.

As of now, all bottles come from Alpine, kegs from GF.
    That could change of course.

I'm too far away to do it, but I think the clear need here is for a blind tasting. Shouldn't be hard to find some willing test subjects. If anyone goes for it, please report back your results!

All beer from Alpine Beer Company that is bottled comes from the original cow in Alpine.

That feeling when Expo, Nelson, Duet, and Pure Hop are all available in bottles at the same time....
