No need to apologize; it's difficult to pick information out of this thread.

They had been brewing kegs at GF for a long while. At first, none of those were supposedly going up the mountain, but then it became necessary. (search this thread for "asterisk" if you want to be amused)

More recently, they started bottling those big three (pretty close to the original timeline for doing so), but around the same time something supposedly happened with the bottling line at Alpine, so they stopped bottling (and brewing) the Big Three up there, at all. And here we are.

Thinking about buying a six pack of pure hoppiness but its $20, ne v er had anything from alpine before. How different or bad is the new ph to the original?

Yes, I think that if you try the bottles sold at Alpine and the bottles sold at GF side-by-side, you will find them to be very similar.

Any chance bad boy and/or high kicks will be on tap at the brewpub on sunday?

Strongly recommend against it. For a beer called "pure hoppiness," the hops were basically nonexistent. Factoring in the price, probably my most regretted purchase of the year. These will be the first beers given out to any friends coming over who don't know/care about beer.

Both appear to be kicked down at the brewery, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are gone at the brewpub as well. I ahve seen Bobby basically run all around san diego to various alpine/GF tap takeovers and at each one so far he has brought Bad Boy with him.

well bummer, but thanks for the intel. So there's no way to see online what's pouring at the pub? Just gotta head up the hill?

Aside from them posting it on their alpine pub FB page (occasionally) I have not been able to find a list. Others might have an idea, but I usually just head on up the hill.

Why don't you just call and ask?

Kind of a sketchy way of doing it, but you could search Untappd by venue. Scan the Alpine pub checkins -- assuming folks are checking in real time, it's one way of gleaning what's pouring.

Obviously that's an option, but I try to avoid that. I know I would find it highly annoying if I worked at a beer place and had to answer the phone to spout out the taplist.

too late I got one lastnight, it's not that bad IMO but at that price I was expecting something more, maybe a more juicy beer. What I got from it was a tame DIPA, it has flavor and its crisp somewhat dry but the it feels a little flat and the bitterness does linger in your mouth. Overall it's OK but at that price I probably won't pick it up again.

Cracked my growler of High Kicks last night, and it was titties in a glass. Loved it.

I see some Bad Boy and Hop Boxed mentions on Untapped but if anyone can confirm that would be awesome.

P.S. I get not wanting to call the brewery. It's a lot less scalable than being able to ask the internet and I hate to bug people if I don't have to. As long as they "do their job" of making great beer, that's good enough for me.

Only if some of these places have their tap list available for us to view so that we can see whats on before we waste our time going. I'm not talking about the brewery's so much the brewpubs and bars/restaurants that serve craft. Most places offer a way to check first. As long as they keep them updated 24/7. Just coming back from KRBC over the weekend and they do not have anyway of checking to see whats on and available for growler fills. I can see them not having one mainly for the locals in the area. You don't many people from LA/OC/SD/SF visiting everyday of the week. Only on special releases. I rely on the Kern thread for occasional updates on their beers.

Amazing beer, I went through 3 growlers of that stuff, Scotty did a fantastic job for his first " prime time " release.

    Cheers…….

Also, this may now be old news, but Bobby posted that new kegs of HFS will be going on up the hill tomorrow. Quite excited since HFS is pretty damn tasty.

Edit: The post from within some comments "Those will both be on. HFS is what is being re-released tomorrow. There is hope thay Great will be available before the end of the year. We are having bottling line issues.... also another BIG beer before years end..." (Those referring to Hop Boxed and Pub Cat)
