Alpine Brewing Thread

You only had the Green Flash version at Alpine, too. They no longer brew that, Nelson, Pure Hoppiness, and Hoppy Birthday on the hill; it is only brewed down in Mira Mesa.

 

Just finished a bomber of the new 1st anniversary Green Flash/ Alpine collaboration beer called Hand Shake IPA. It's really underwhelming. Brewed with simcoe, mosaic, citra and el dorado hops sounds great but it's just really bland and lacking the hop flavor explosion I expect from a fresh $9 IPA.

 

Went to the grand opening of the new tasting room today, looks great.

Funny, haven't tasted old school world class Nelson in forever. Actually thought it was gone and replaced by only GF versions.

THEN.....yesterday was at Rocky's in PB, and they had the best batch of Nelson I've tasted in years. Wondering if it was brewed at Alpine or has GF finally nailed it. Regardless, it reminded me why I fell in love with beer in the first place.

They moved into the new tasting room in the old pub. Camera hasn't made the move yet

 

I hit up the new tasting room on Tuesday. I grabbed a couple bottles of fresh Nelson. Hazy orange,great nose and really nice flavor profile. With the extra room they have in the brewery I am interested to see how they utilize it, I would imagine we'll see more one off special beers as well as more special beers like Keene Idea and Bad Boy more frequently.

Really loving the Singled Out Galaxy IPA, so juicy and soft, reminds me a lot of some of the better mid atlanic styled IPAs that are so frikin great. Good job Alpine, can't wait for more of this series, maybe a Nelson version, Mosaic ? Citra or even Simcoe, I'll try them all.

I thought the same thing but charger game (so avoid the 15 heading down here), and V@S day I think will lessen the crowd.

Of course I am also a little sad that they didn't just post the X though with no explanation. I liked when they did that.

 

Anyone there yet ? Was planning on just filling growlers hope it's not a shit show , and different lines for growlers and X. Last 3 batches of X have been disappointing .

The new setup is awesome, more room and a totally revamped outside. There was a line but it moved alright, almost no line when I left. Expo on draft along with a ton of other new one offs.

Oh and this batch of expo is awesome, oaky and mellow....

 

Same hours for the new tasting room? Closed Mondays too?

 

They're closed this Tuesday for the company employee Christmas party. But other than that closed Monday's and normal 12-7 Tue-Sun.

Went to the new ABC tasting room and ad an awesome experience! Although ABC does not have the mom and pop shop feel to it anymore after the Green Flash sale, it did change for the better. More employees , not just Steve and his assistants filling your growlers and putting together your bottle order together. I like the fact I can have a full pour of a beer before i decide if i want a special release bottle or a growler of the beer to go. Nelson growlers did go up in price to $17/fill but limited release IPAs stayed at $15/fill. Nelson draft was as close as its been in recent batches, for some reason the first release of GF Nelson bottles did not hold up. Thought the Expo release was welll planned having a seperate line for bottle release only. I've been an ABC customer since 2007 and was bummed of the sale and GF brewing the core beers, but all the limited release offerings , Singled Out , Hop Box, HFS have the same Alpine IPA quality we were all accustomed to. Cheers and ABC is still my favorite brewery!
