Denver brewery closing just 14 months after reopening in new spot New brewpub is planning to takeover that space, Full Frame Beer. It was briefly mentioned in Westword Vine Street Pub (5 blocks away from Alpine Dog) is reopening on 5/15/24 after being closed for 4 years.
I don't know if I've ever had an Alpine Dog beer. From either location. Good luck to the old and new owners I guess! The return of the VSP is a huge deal to me, though. Both their beer and food are fantastic. Those fries are probably the best in the whole region. They'll probably be at capacity for a while, but I'll definitely try to sneak in a visit in their first few few days of reopening. The Mountain Sun locations in Boulder have barely changed, so I have faith they'll be (more or less) the same as they were. I fully approve of them taking credit cards, too. The ATM was convenient enough, but not having to bother is even more convenient.
Looks like the new Looks like they're going to be focused on late night when they should be focused on daytime. Being right next to the hospital kills your late night foot traffic. The most successful the building ever was was when it was a coffee shop that also stayed open at night to serve alcohol. The 9pm-12am traffic will never match the 9am-12pm traffic IMO.
Kodiak is next on the list of places closing. They were only open for a little over a year, which might be a new record. The beers and food were solid the one time I went. I have a feeling that area might be to blame, though. Feels like there's a lot of stuff popping up right there, but the only stuff thriving seem to be chains.
You might be specifically referring to that one location - however, my only counter point is that there are other places like TRVE, New Image, Left Hand, Odell, Denver Beer Co., Westbound & Down that keep expanding and opening up new locations. I don't think it's limited to the big chains. I think it's that people are legitimately patronizing their favorite breweries now and those breweries with subpar beer will close. People are losing interest in trying a new brewery and being disappointed. From personal experience, I went to Alpine once and left unimpressed and never to return because there were too many other better options I'd rather return to.
I just meant literally that one mile-long stretch on Arapahoe. It's a strange area. At one time that part of the DTC was absolutely swarming with people in the middle of the day. Yet it would be a ghost town past 6PM and on the weekends. Now you'll drive past dozens of empty office buildings during the day and the people from all those neighborhoods seem to actually be frequenting those businesses on nights/weekends. The only caveat is that the places that are bustling right there are all chains. Chuy's, Torchy's, Cava, Shake Shack, Starbucks, ModMarket, etc. Kodiak and the food hall with Little Dry Creek in it didn't seem to get any runoff.
The VSP has reopened for real! They did a soft opening last night and they're open normal hours this weekend. Not sure I'll brave the chaos right away, but I'm looking forward to swinging by when I can.
Went up for dinner last night. Absolutely no wait. We walked right up to the bar. Limited food menu right now, but the beer list has all the hits.
This is good to know! Think I'm gonna give it a shot mid-week if my schedule allows for it. Will have 0 plans afterward in case everyone else has the same idea. I really do miss pretty much their whole classic lineup. I wouldn't be mad if someone chose my beer order completely at random.
Looks like they're probably still staffing up and training. Only open Thurs-Sun, 3-9PM on their website
Add me to the list of people excited for the return of Vine St. Give me a BTL with a FYIPA and a Megatron for dessert.
