Looking for a little help with trading an Alpine Great for BCBS variants. Checked the trading forum and didn't see much. Would it go 1:1 with Backyard? 1 + BCBCS or BN x? for Prop?

    Your help is appreciated, cheers!

Great should pull any of those IMHO. Great is one of the best BA barley wines out there. If I had variants I would do it in a heartbeat

Trade level is way above Backyard. Should trade for Prop+ or Cherry Rye+ (at least I would do that trade if I had the BCBS variants). Also, be aware that Prop is probably the only BCBS variant that people expect to taste better fresh, as the coconut is expected to severely degrade overtime.

While it's excellent beer, Great being in 12oz bottles could be a factor, since 1:1 Great for Prop is actually closer to 1:2 ounce-for-ounce.

You might have better luck offering tasty brewery-only releases.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking, above backyard, equal to or just below prop depending on the trade. Thanks for responses!

Yeah, I know, brewery-only 4 brewery-only/rarity 4 rarity/$4$ is an outdated concept these days but one has to try.

are you implying that great is not a brewery only release? Sounds like the OP has the great for trade unless i read it wrong

Doh. You're right. OP does, in fact, have the Great. I automatically thought the other way around since I'd assume someone with a bottle of it would know its "worth."

I assumed like you because I figured someone from Illinois would have all of the BCBS :stuck_out_tongue:

Great for Prop seems like a bad deal on the Great end to me; having traded for both, I would expect Great to be "greater than" Prop in a trade.

...but seriously, how did OP in IL get a bottle of Great and not know what it was?

For what it's worth I'd rather have 12oz of Great than 12oz of Prop, but I'd rather have 22oz of Prop than 12oz of Great. So that seems like a decently fair 1:1 if you ask me.

Prop is s far past it's prime anyone that has a bottle should signal a red flag in more ways than one. No reason to trade Great for a any BCBs variant unless you don't like the style, albeit one of the top 3 representations on earth...

I received the great as part of a larger trade, I knew it was highly regarded but don't see it trade too often. Being from IL I find it easy to equate things in terms of BC value. I plan on drinking the Great, just wasn't clear on it's value in case of tracking down larger wants.
