I admittedly don't know a lot about this beer. I'm a huge fan of bourbon barrel aged barleywines and this one caught my eye. Just wondering what the availability for this one is and what kinds of beers it typically goes for.

It was last released roughly a year ago. It's highly desired, really freaking delicious, and trades pretty high. I'd guess you'd need something along the lines of a Proprietor's to land one.

So too rich for my trading blood then.

What about Anchorage: A Deal With The Devil?

I don't think Great is beyond your reach, I'd say its very worth getting as I thought it was delicious. I remember a guy back in August offering it up with a plus for JK Fen Tao and it took him a few tries to close.

Deal with the Devil is shelf beer in some parts, or at least behind-the-shelf beer. It saw wide distribution but likely sold out quickly in most spots that got it. Biggest difficulty with getting it is the cost of the beer, which was somewhere between 30 and 45 depending on where it was purchased. I was lucky enough to have a friend in California send me a bottle at cost.

A deal with the Devil is still on the shelf around the country, shouldn't be too hard to get.

Great can be pretty tough to land. It rightfully requires a good beer to land one. But I traded one for some Bourbon County Stout last year, so it just depends on what people want.

Fill out your gots list and people could let you know what you have that might work.

Thanks for the insight, fellas. I'll try a FT of some BCBS, Pirate Bomb and Apple Brandy Noir and see if I get lucky.

Great is certainly worth trading for. I was fortunate enough to land several when released last year since I live in Alpine and happened to be working from home the day it was released. It's an every 2-3 year release at the moment. Problem is not wanting to drink the entire stash and trying to pace myself until it comes out again. You can likely land a single bottle but I don't think what you listed will land it unless you are willing to go higher on qty.

Disclaimer: I have a Great. Had 2 actually, drank 1, holding tight to the other for a special occasion.

You'll have a very tough time landing Great without offering at least 1 nice limited bottle and possibly add a few small sweeteners on top. The beers you plan to offer can be traded using much easier to get beers, people holding Great aren't going to be so inclined unless you're offering some significant quantity. Good luck.

A buddy and I tradded 11, 12, and 13 Zhukov plus a Hunaphu for one great. Yeah it was a lot to give but that's what it took.... and it was absolutely delicious.

Haha. Just curious. There is no losing if both parties are happy!

If you like BA barleywines, you might be interested in BA Flying Mouflan then, just a heads up your way OP. I can help you get that one or Three Brothers 2nd anniversary Barleywine that spent some time in a barrel if you are ever interested.

    Cheers

Great is the best BA Barleywine I have tried, and I have had most of the "best". I would go for it with a quantity trade if that is all you have, OP, but don't be surprised if that gets crickets.

Honestly, I thought ADWtD b2 was the closest I've had to Great in recent memory. And, ADWtD b2 shouldn't be to hard to land right now.

I'll probably try my luck at A Deal With The Devil. I don't have the kind of big fish or a surplus of anything in particular to land Great. Thanks for the responses, boys.

ADWTD was the biggest dissapointment I've had in a while. I thought it was a sweet mess. So excited to try it, then ultimate regretset in.

A group of us did a blind BA BW tasting a few weeks ago(bracket style setup)

    Final Four were:
    1. Great
    2. Gigantic BA Massive
    3a. King Henry
    3b. ADWTD

Love the blind format, kept us from tasting the .rar. Great is well worth what it takes to get it.
