Hey Pacific crew, I'll be cruising down 8 from Tucson to Coronado Island for a week vacation with the family and want to stop at Alpine for some IPA's. Now it's my understanding Cali doesn't allow fills of other brewery growlers. SO how much are growler fills without having a growler to start with? Limit? Cheers,
...off the top of my head: Growler fills at Brewery only, open Tu - Sat... check hours, but I think opens at 11. If I recall, $10 for empty glass... IPA's usually around $12-14 for fill, not sure about others. 6 fills per beer?
10 dollars for a growler. Nelson and duet are worth it. 15 dollars for the beer. Does open at 12 though.
Thanks all, but am I understanding that they charge $10 for an empty growler THEN $14ish to fill it? Or $15 to fill a new growler that you just bought it?
Probably $14 for the fill, $10 for the new growler. Do to CA growler fill regulations you will most probably have to use a alpine growler
$10 for new growler. And just under $15 for Pure. And closer to $14 for Duet and Nelson. Worth every drop. And they fill to the top. So be careful when you first open.

There are no such "CA growler fill restrictions" that say you have to use a brewery's branded growler. Misinformation of the Century.
From stones website: "State law prohibits us from filling growlers from other breweries, or with beer that is inconsistent with the growler's label. " There has been talk about clarification of growler filling, but it is still unclear how it will play out.
Sure. But Alpine can, for now, still refuse to fill anyone else's growlers. They also haven't made any official statements on the matter the way that Russian River has.
This is a bit off-topic but I'm looking to score some Alpine bottles if possible. Mainly just their IPAs. Can this be done easily in SD or does it most likely necessitate a trip to the pub?
It's almost impossible to find all three of their IPAs (bottles) in one place outside of Alpine. With that being said, it's difficult to even find one of their IPAs outside of Alpine. In sum, go to Alpine.
Another option is to bring something from Florida and set up an IP trade with someone who goes out there regularly.
I've thought about the possibility of doing an IP trade but honestly I was thinking more along the lines of finding a bar that I could meet up and open a couple bottles to spread some love.
