I have been monitoring the "alpine in..." threads because I was excited to see that the east coast was getting a few kegs of alpine - even if it is alpine from GF So I was pleasantly surprised to see that without any fanfare or tap takeovers (only announcement was on their normal twitter feed) that J. Ryan's in Syracuse, my absolute favorite bar, has kegs on of both nelson and duet. I enjoyed a pint of duet (6$) and grabbed a growler of nelson (18$) for the SU-Duke game later tonight. I'm sure that the kegs will be gone soon but I'm also glad to see that we are in the rotation. Bravo/Cheers J. Ryan's.
They did a tap take over at Blue Tusk this last Wednesday. Duet, Nelson, Hoppy Birthday were all available on tap. Plus 3 other that I don't remember the names (alpine ale, a stout, and a red ale). $6/7 per 10oz or 10/11 for a 20oz.
I think bottles are gonna be awhile. J ryans had duet and nelson on tap, I think $6 a pint. Both amazing
My understanding is that Alpine/Green Flash are doing market research with the few kegs they have brought east. Perhaps to gauge the interest in the product to see if it's worth their while to bring more. And don't hold your breath for bottles - you'll suffocate.
Those may be some slightly skewed results. I think if Alpine was out here on a regular basis (like GF) it would be a steady seller but nothing that is tapped and kicked in the same night our within 48 hours.
Alpine Duet is "on deck" at the Ale House. not sure what that means in terms of how much longer it will be until it's on tap. hopefully in the next few days.
I hope anyone who has heard the hype about Alpine and never had it is not influenced by only having this beer ! Not one of their top beers by any means, surprised Alpine would send this without sending Nelson, Duet and Hoppy Birthday.
yeah captain stout is nothing special but I've seen it a few places between Binghamton market and albany market now.
Duet, hoppy birthday, captain stout and alpine ale still pouring strong at j ryans...it was odd yesterday drinking a duet from a plastic cup
it's been moved to the 'on tap' list at the Ale House. Think I'll try to swing by this weekend to try it out.
Duet was good.. don't know if it was $7.50 a pint good, but I did like it. Had one of those and a couple Founders Oatmeal Stout on nirto for $4 a pint... which I thought was a better deal and a damn fine beer.
Perhaps it will be on tap for a while. They still have hopslam on tap after a few weeks. I'm in Ithaca, but I doubt we 'know' each other. Considering how small this city is there is a chance we've crossed paths.
