The distance from alpine to sd and la doesnt compare to the distance kern river is from la and sd. And you still have a ton of non locals going to pick them up with a week or so to pick them up as well. There is no perfect solution really sadly

K, think I got this...how about if you collect Alpine bottle caps and the people who have the most bottle caps will get special release Alpine beer in descending order. Alpine would have to start labeling their bottle caps for this to work of course.

^^ That sounds like we are playing a Fallout game where bottlecaps are currency. Does the condition of the bottle cap increase its value at all?

Alpine makes a beer, bottles it, sells it out. Hundreds of people drive to their brewery to pick up the bottles, many of them buying growlers, other bottles and t-shirts, and maybe getting pints and food at the pub. Thousands of dollars in the coffers. A dozen mopes whine on the Internet that they didn't get beer they think they deserve. And Alpine doesn't win?

    $10? What are we, millionaires?

$.10 CRV/bottle, a firm handshake, and a promise to enjoy the beer and share them at our discretion is my final offer.

You make it sound like SD folk are entitled to Alpine beers just because of your proximity to them. People in LA buy up their beers at every opportunity, it just so happens those opportunities are few and far between because distribution up here is inconsistent and the stuff sells out right away. If we lived equidistant to Alpine as the BAs in SD, we'd be there just as often.

Therein lies the irony of the "LA Douchebag" remark I like to use time and time again. As far as I know, when the people at Alpine talk about serving the local community, they mean Alpine, not every douchebag from San Diego. LOL

Like I said, just because I feel like the people who most support Alpine, keep it afloat and are the reason they are doing so well, should benefit over the weekend road warrior from LA, doesn't mean I feel like SD people are entitled to anything. I feel like the people who most support Alpine should be the ones who get limited release beers. They are the reason why Alpine can do limited release beers, not the weekend road warrior.

While it's not your fault you live in LA and don't have Alpine readily available to you, it's also not my fault that I live in San Diego and don't have SARA available to me. However, that is reality of the situation. You don't have Alpine in LA, so you aren't the ones who keep them afloat and are the reason they're doing so well.

Full disclosure here, I only got in on Kiwi Herman because someone from LA told me about it. I would have completely missed it. Had I missed it, I wouldn't complain, because so is the landscape of limited releases right now. None of this changes my opinion though that I feel the people who most support a brewery and keep it alive should benefit the most from it.

So should I be able to buy more bottles than you if I have been drinking Alpine longer?

There in lies the problem... how exactly do you quantify things? If I knew, I'd put BPT out of business!

I think we need to start doing some "started drinking craft beer on XX" cards so we can all be assured our proper level of street cred can be assessed.

Beachwood's releases will now come with a mandatory "Those who supported us since Seal Beach only location can buy first"

I know you're being sarcastic, but how is this really any different from having a Society? People seem to love Societies and they're pretty much a way to guarantee the people most likely spending the most money get access to the best beers.
