Same here, also for $9-10/bomber it's not worth the price...sixers are pretty pricey also compared to other IPA/DIPA sixers.

Even with the new change, I still dig my Duet alot. Probably even enjoy Nelson more now interestingly enough.

Nelson is still in 22's in Wisconsin. But Duet came in bombers at first then switched to six packs. So here's hoping!

OK, I love Nelson - first had it on draft in San Francisco last April (pre Green Flash, I think) and it vaulted its way into my top IPAs. Same goes for Duet, which just recently came to my market under the Green Flash era. For folks who have had bottles pre and post Green Flash: Is there really that big a difference between the two? And let's separate quality and difference here - for example, I can detect small differences in the Iowa and Florida/BrewHub versions of TG's Sue, but both are exceptional beers.

Oh please don't start this war again! I can tell you as a long time Nelson consumer, that YES, there is a difference, and I certainly agree that the more recent offering is still delicious, just not the same. More importantly, people (especially Californians) seem to be bitter towards Alpine and it's staple Nelson because they feel almost cheated out of their beloved icon as it has transformed from one entity to the next without meeting the expectations or standards that were once so revered. That said....I still love you Alpine! Cheers!

Oops. Well, I guess this gets my faux pas out of the way for today. To be clear, I love Nelson and Alpine's entire lineup as is - just curious if people could actually detect a discernible difference and if that difference impacted their enjoyment of the beer.

Haha! No need to be embarrassed. I just know where this was heading. People get awfully defensive/irritated about Alpine around these parts.

Six packs of Nelson, Duet and Hoppy Birthday are all over Northern Virginia. Love the 12oz format. Lot bashers here for some reason, probably just earning internal cool points or something. Alpine is fantastic.

NorCal distributor here - 22's and Kegs...but we're out of all right now. It moves quick and I think limited production.

i think you are getting confused, the 3rd 6-pack offering Alpine has is Pure Hoppiness, NOT Nelson.

Have never seen a six pack of it in VA but plenty of bombers. The problem is most of them I see now are at least/more than halfway into that 6mo best by, and a bit past their prime for me to buy.

Isn't Alpine discontinuing Nelson due to their hop supplier getting out of the hops business?

ive had fresh bottles of Nelson (only 220z) that is very close to what the original was years ago. if there is a difference, i can barely tell.

was never a huge fan of Hoppy birthday or Duet.

Nelson still makes it to Portland within a week of bottling and I agree that it is damn near the same as the beer I had at the brewery itself years ago.

Why do you say that? Yeah, Dark Elixir was pure garbage but other than that I havnt noticed any negatives since greenflash took over. This newest batch of nelson is just as good as it was years ago and the larger expo release they did was also as good as always in my opinion. HFS is a new favorite of mine as well. What has been the biggest change you have noticed?

For one, I can see right through it. I've heard reports here and there of it occasionally being right, but everything I've bought has been average at best. It also doesn't have the same nose and mouthfeel. Those are more subjective, but the first thing I mentioned is not.
