Alpine Nelson. Here we go again?

LKs like Nelson cans are hitting the road this week.

 

Are the cans supposed to taste better or something?

 

Just another way people are clinging to hope that OG Nelson returns.

I have a better shot breaking out of this Dominican prison that I am currently sitting in than OG Nelson returning. That being said, I will buy cans

 

I’m also a sucker so I’ll pick up a 6 pack. The allure of OG Nelson is something I can’t quit. If they can at least accomplish a batch similar to the one released to distro this time last year then I’ll be content.

I’m just kind of just sitting back here on a SoCal evening, chilling hard in the cut, and just thinking about it all, and I’m just so bummed. Alpine, just stop. The “return of Nelson” is about as inspiring as Taylor Swift’s last single. Bae, chill. I mean, wanting OG Nelson back is like Robin Thicke trying to get his ex wife back: it ain’t gonna happen! So can we all just move on? I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: once your car is stolen, or your chick cheats on you with the bar back at Ruth’s Chris, shit is not going to be the same when you get it back! Nelson has been stolen, ridden hard and put away wet! Dead! Kaput! It’s over! Sayonara! Byeeeeeee!

I thought it was limited but that is 3 Chiefs status. This news is going to make my last two cans taste even better.

 

Recent Nelson may not touch the original, but it's still a damn solid beer, and I'm buying as much as I can find.

 

My confusion is why they can’t replicate it. Most logical explanation seems to be the Nelson hops they have access to now are not as good. That Mikkeller / Alpine collab from a few years ago Devil’s Triangle was amazing and reminiscent of OG Nelson. Why for instance isn’t that beer re-done again?

 

The easy answer is that they are replicating it. But because it’s now made by a bigger company and not by some off-centered loon out in the sticks, people don’t see it as being as good anymore.

Just picked up some hyper fresh cans, and... No difference between on tap or bottles. It’s a light, citrusy IPA with a weak, to a non-existent backbone. It’s definitely drinkable, but I’d only give it 85/100. Save your money if you have better options.
