Just an FYI but I have noticed pricing issues with lips of Faith beers between the two "tiers". Sometimes beers that are supposed to be at the $5.99 tier price point are sold at the $8.99 tier price point. I recently bought a Lost Abbey/new Belgium brett beer and the retailer charged me $8.99. I had no way to know I was being overcharged until I saw it at another store. Also I have seen Biere De Mars at the King Soopers liquor store on Leetsdale priced at the La Folie Price point of $15....

I thought it was stores just pricing the beers higher but this makes more sense on the big price discrepancy.

I saw the Brett beer at some places for 9-10 and then at the same store for 6-7 a week later, all makes sense now

Whoa!!! That's not right at all! Thanks for the heads-up.

CO is a very unique beer state because we're dealing with independent liquor stores rather than large grocery chains. Thousands of pricing coordinators/recievers versus just one or two with grocery. Also, each store operates with different margins based on discount levels and such from a distributor. Because of this, pricing is commonly an issue. For example, a store had a tier 2 LOF beer on the shelf. It sells through. A tier 1 case shows up next. Their reciever thinks it's the same thing because he/she could care less. They restock the shelf without reprinting a new sticker. All the sudden they're selling BdM at Tart Lychee pricing and nobody notices but the savvy customer and myself. Happens all the time from large stores to little stores. This causes a lot of incorrect pricing in the market. It's something I notice daily. If you see it, ask for the beer buyer and tell them you think something's fishy.

By the way, I've been thinking it'd be a blast to host a New Belgium hosted BA Bottle Share with you guys. I realize this is for a different forum, but thought I'd throw it out there since we're already chatting. Not just NBB beers but anything you're holding onto. Of course, we'll bring some goodies as well. Just a thought.

Funny thing is it never seems to go the other way where they are selling the higher beer at the lower price point.

Now that I know the system a little better I'll bring it up. The store loses some of my sales if I think they are price gouging.

So how many cases need to be ordered to help with the release of the super ipa?

The first week the LA Brett beer came out, it was mispriced from Coors and then corrected the next week.

As of 8/7, 42 cases were left. Shouldn't be a problem to have gone by the end of this week.

A Tasting at New Belgium, would be Awesome! Really no other word to explain. Would have to be a weekend, though, as the weekdays would definitely be tough.

Seems odd to me... If i knew in advance a Brett beer and an IPA both special releases had the same UPC and only one could be out at the same time. I would think (If i had the storage space) to just hold on to that Brett beer until the IPA was released. Figuring they would sell at around the same speed, the only difference is that one improves with age. May have had something to do with Lost Abbey wanting to get it on the shelves first too. Who knows? All we can do now is have some Mo Bretta. =)

Except that NB pasteurized Brett Beer, so that kind of eliminates any chances of it changing at all. Haha.

It's pretty much all over Ft. Collins. Kinda sad that we still don't have it down in Denver yet.
Big and dank, a bit like a less fruity version of the Pliny beers. The one thing about it, is that I have a weird hang-up with certain hop flavors and this one has some notes that almost head down the wrong path for me. For instance I can't stand the Gubna as it tastes like garlic and meat sauce to me. This one has a little bit of that meaty, salty character, but luckily no onion or garlic. It mellows as it warms, but I'm not sure it's my thing. Some tastes are great, others not so much.

What's going on with the lack (or rather delay) of distribution to Denver?

If it makes you feel any better, Fort Collins still hasn't gotten any Double Jack in 4 packs.
