Hey guys, I'm heading to San Diego for work next week and I absolutely LOVE Alpine. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get over there while the Brewery is open from noon-6 PM any of the days I'm there. I can, however, make it to the Pub, which is open until 10. Does the Pub sell bottles and do growler fills? Or are those only sold at the Brewery? Thanks!

The pub usually has a limited supply of bottles but does not fill growlers.

The bottle limit, if IIRC, is also one less. (So 2 instead of 3).

2 per beer? Or 2 total? I don't know how these things work.

Two of each beer that is available.

Wow...for some reason I got denied to buy bottles last time I was there(early before the brewery was open). Didn't know you normally could buy them. WTF

I think it's because the brewery was going to be open later that day, if I had to guess. I think they only sell bottles from the pub on days the brewery is closed all day. I don't understand it, but I imagine they have a reason for it.

Well whatever reason they have, it's silly to turn away a customer.

Pretty sure it's only AFTER the brewery closes (pm only) that the pub will sell bottles. Yeah I know technically the brewery is closed from 11 to 12 but I'm sure they have their reasons

There's a few liquor stores surrounding the brewery that carry their bottles. Mostly their less popular offerings though.

I would love to hear a logical reason.

Its alpine nothing is really logical but they make fantastic beers.

There isn't a logical reason. I suspect the primary reason is that they don't want to stock the refrigerator in the morning, and they see no reason why people can't wait until 12. With that said, I've had bartenders retrieve me bottles a few times while one of those clusterfork releases are in progress. I wonder why they'd do that for me and not for others.

I've been told by staff it has to do with their liquor license, although I don't know how accurate that is.

I bet the reason is that they don't want you to get your limit in the diner, then come back in an hour and get your limit in the brewery. Just guessing.

They usually have the less popular bottles in the case, but if you ask, they have the IPA's in the back with a 2 bottle limit. The one down the street (on the right side) was priced the same as the brewery and the one across the street was a dollar more per bottle. In my past couple trips they have the same stuff that is available in bottle at the brewery.

Anyone know if Keene Idea and Hoppy Birthday are still pouring?
