Alpine still worth a visit?

I gotcha... Yes Pure Hoppiness, Keene Idea, everything for $5. Its probably the hottest deal on the planet at the moment. Im about to go back right now.

 

Desperate times for alpine to bring in traffic.

 

Thats the same price they always are every day. Im beginning to think you have never been to Alpine. Its not very good anyways. You shouldn't go.

 

I made it out for Keene idea yesterday. It is very good but not drastically different in quality from modern times latest hazy double ipa. I'm glad I got a growler fill but in this market Keene idea isn't as unique as it once was.

 

Alpine became obsolete when the sold their soles to GF.

Is there something particularly important about footwear to brewers?

 

Only if you are working with clean beer. Gotta have those closed toe shoes. Now if you are working on wilds or other members of that beer family it won't matter since funk from feet could add some interesting flavors.

I think the thing that makes Keene so special is that after years of drinking all this new money hazy milkshake goodness, it still totally holds its own. There are no gimmicks: no flour, no lactose, no special yeast. It's incredibly balanced: great nose, great nelson flavor, smooth finish. If I had to have 1 IPA out of SD, this would be it.

Do you still drop in when your in SD for work?

 

My personal preference is the non-rye spice by a hair over the ones with rye (Nelson and DT)....

 

Any chance Keene Idea is getting out to Toronado or somewhere in SD? Thought I read a comment somewhere saying it would. New baby in the household so making a trip to Alpine isn't as easy as it normally would be.

 

Not in a very long time, really is no reason anymore, the only thing that could get me to make the drive up the hill would be OG Nelson.

I've been kind of out of the loop for a while when it comes to the Sd bar and tasting room scene. What is the name of the latest hazy ipa from modern times? Ive had boomin rollers and protocosmos. They were decent but i have to try them on tap. I've had some stuff from Mikkeller and Bitter Brothers and Alesmith that can stand up to Alpine... Nothing really from Modern Times or Pizza Port. Im just getting back on the scene after being on crutches for a few months. I need to get my tolerance back to normal.

 

You may not be able to get Hedge Witch still, their hazy double IPA. But it is really great. They are doing another lower alcohol release soon. Generally you aren't going to find MT hazy stuff anywhere other than at the brewery directly. Aldo Half Door regularly has delightful hazy IPAs on tap that never leave the brewery.

 

I have given Alpine a lot of shit the past few years, but this latest KI was very good.

 

Not sure why the name change from Token to this but whatever.. Anyone getting this?

Going to be in SD for the first time in a couple years this weekend. Going up to Alpine was one of my favorite things...sounds like my time would be better served elsewhere?
