Does anyone know if Altenburger beers are available in Munich? I will be there next month for Oktoberfest and would like to bring a few bottles back. If anyone knows where I would be able to find this beer, it would be much appreciated.

There is an Altenburger Bier from Altenburg in Thüringen. I'd never seen or heard of it till this post.

Nonetheless, I bet he meant Altenmünster, which is owned by.... RADEBURGER, who else. It's brewed by Allgäuer Brauhaus AG, and I quote (my translation), "a traditional-rich brewery in Kempten." They took over the rights to brew Altenmüster from Mainzer Aktien Bierbrauerei (Binding-Gruppe) and Sailerbräu im Marktoberdorf and were bought by Radeburger Gruppe.

Altenburger from Thuringia is only available locally. The beers are ok, but nothing really special. You sometimes find the Pils outside Thuringia, but Munich is too far south.

Thanks guys. I definitely meant Altenburger. I know it's not well known, but I was looking to bring back a few bottles for friend. Doesn't sound like its available in Munich.
