I was up in Hagerstown area last night for my son's HS trackmeet. Heard about this restaurant called "Always Ron's" as having some good craft beers on tap and my son and I had to get dinner so naturally I convinced him this would be a good place to eat. Well all I can say is this place is amazing for craft beer lovers. Anyone traveling out I-70 or I-81 through Hagerstown...this is a must pitstop. 30 rotating craft beers on tap and the offerings were stellar compared to other craft bars certainly in this area quite aways from DC or Baltimore. Numerous Belgians and sours, barrel aged stouts, classics like DFH 90 and Weihenstephaner Hef. etc. This guy (Mike is the owner) really knows his stuff. I had a Goose Island Lolita Wild Ale last night. It seems to be well hidden older restaurant off the beaten path (have to look it up directions). Just wanted to make people aware of this place.
Yep... been there several times and it's definitely a hidden gem. Always some quality selections on tap. Recently had 2010 Mephistopholes, DFH Olde School, and Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien there to name a few. Sean (a regular bartender) knows his stuff as well. The crab dip is pretty decent too.
Always Rons was an excellent choice. If your back, next time you might want to try Hempen Hill BBQ, not as extensive of draft list, but good BBQ and always a couple of worthwhile draft selections.
