I've never done this intentionally, but I've had some IPAs that were past their prime, and while certainly lacking in the hops department, a few have delivered a really excellent and complex grain bill. I thought SupaHero was a good example of this, and I've heard the Nugget Nectar is too.

I've got a sixer of Hopslam aging right now. Tried to trade a few and people get upset I'm ruining it, so I'll drink them in a few months and see. The ones I let sit last year were much better with some time on them IMO.

I do enjoy other beers that get aged and are very hoppy when fresh, like barley wines and some strong ales. I like that the hops mellows out a bit. So I don't see why a big DIPA would be be any worse than those. I don't think you're crazy.

I do not appreciate old IPAs. I do, however, appreciate anyone willing to buy older stock off the shelves. Keeps the inventory moving so everything is fresher for us sane folks.

I went to a bar at the end of May that had a few Hopslams that seemed to have been forgotten in the back of the cooler. They were fantastic. It wasn't the same as drinking them in February, but they were really hoppy and quite tasty. There are no more bottles of Hopslam at that particular establishment. I don't know if they were "better" but I was happy to have found them.

I'm personally not a fan of hopslam, so I wouldn't object to someone saying they like it better with age on it. Anyway, if you like it with some age, god bless you OP!

drink what you like, not what people tell you to like.

Then it was neglected in your original post. Because the context makes all the difference when a brewery is promoting their beer and when somebody posts a forum about how they don't prefer the taste of fresh IPAs.
