Obviously with the user name I'm from Indiana. I travel around the state quite a bit for my job and from time to time between appointments I'll stop at different liquor stores just to see what they have. This past week I was in Reynolds Indiana and decided to stop at the only liquor store (it was actually a liquor shack) in this small one stoplight town. Shocktop was the closest thing to craft beer that I saw in the store, however as I was looking around I saw a Goose Island box on the bottom shelf behind other BMC sitting there. I pulled it out and to my amazement found 3 four packs of Bourbon County Black 2012 vintage. I could hardly contain myself as I grabbed all 3 and approached the counter. The clerk asked me if I was sure I wanted to purchase them because they've been there for "a long time" and may not be any good. I told her that I would take my chances and would like to purchase them, and proceeded to pay her the marked down price of $5.99/four pack. As I was leaving I couldn't believe what just happened.

I've went into other stores from time to time and have found good beers that I didn't think would still be available, but nothing like this. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?

Not sure if it's amazing, but I found a 2011 Old Stock sitting in a bin marked down to 50 cents once.

I just love when owners don't know what they are giving away. Not the biggest fan of the beer, but I couldn't pass it up.

They were probably talking about you after you left, thinking you were a fool.

Found Cantillon's Vigneronne for 4.50 marked down and was happy to have not paid the usual exorbitant price it usually brings about.

After having it I also gave up on the sour ales for a long time and still shudder to think of them....but it was still a find.

Other than that we had cases of Anchor's Christmas ale stacked up to form a throne in my old apartment for 10.99 a piece and 2.99 a bomber that were 2 to 5 years old and excellent.....that also burned me out on that fine nectar, need to try it again....someday....maybe....

It was a hot summer day in Meridian, MS. I hadn't consumed a beer in over two months. I found a 40 of Olde English 800 at a local gas station. I proceeded to sit by the dumpster behind said gas station and consume that majestic swill right on site. Needless to say, it was larrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrge.

It wasn't my find but I do remember reading a thread similar to this (I searched and couldn't find it) and a guy claimed to have found a case Cherry Rye in Maine well over a year after it was released. He even posted pictures to prove it

My friend Eric is lucky. He won a free trip to Bermuda. $5.99 BCBS? Good God, buy a lottery ticket!!!

Me? Never shall I taste luck. The closest I'll ever get is free peppermints exiting the Italian wannabe restaurant.

I found 7 Kbs sitting in a shelf once, bought a case of Celebration that was mis marked at $21. Nothing outrageous though.

there's a beer shop in a city that probably doesn't have a lot of craft beer drinkers (Stockton, CA) I ran across recently that has had Victory at Sea available both times. Going to have one tonight.

Closest to that was finding a bunch of FW Anniversary (I think it was 14) marked at the same price the rest of the FW was. Something like 8 or 10 a bottle. Between a friend and myself, we bought them out of it.

While not that crazy, I did walk into a liquor store just to see what they had this past January to find BCBS Coffee and Vanilla Rye sitting on the shelf. They actually didn't have a price tag on the shelf yet as they were just put there, but they were reasonably priced after I gave up hope finding them on the Saturday after Black Friday. I'm guessing some employees called dibs and just never bought them or something.
