They have a great bottle selection. They beat out Bevmo or any of the liqueur stores in the area. The prices are usually a touch higher than other places but if you buy six bottles you get a discount which brings it back down to average market prices.
I think Naughty sauce was the only thing to blow. It was pretty crowded until about 9ish then it cleared quickly. It's pretty close to home for me so I will be back for sure.
Service was less than stellar. The wait staff were friendly and trying their best it seemed, but clearly the place was not prepared for that crowd. On the positive side, it's always nice to get grey monday and bcbbw on tap at the same place and we left with 2 bottles of pliny as a bonus, so all in all, not a bad night.
Right on. How were the prices? Its not close (i am in costa mesa) so i am wondering if it worth the trip out
Hold on what??? Pliny??? Do you know if they will be getting a regular supply of Pliny or was this a grand opening thing??? Thanks!
Yeah they usually get Pliny 2-3 times a month. Typically only a case, sometimes more, but it being one of the very few places in the area that gets Pliny, it goes fast. Sometimes within 20 minutes. You can get on a text list, and they send out a message whenever something special arrives.
Cool - thanks for the Pliny info. Text List??? LOL ... 1990s calling and they want their Text List back
It was a bit pricey. Grey Monday and BCBBW were both $9 each for 4 oz pours. I don't plan on going back unless they have something rare and I feel compelled. Maybe I'll stop in and check their bottles if I'm at Cismontaine on the way to my father in law's place.
Naughty Sauce was the only one to kick and they replaced with Cali-Belgique aged in red wine barrels. The prices on some of the pours was really high (Grey Monday, Melange #1 & #3, BCBW) but there were others that were priced a little better. They had Sucaba and Pugachevs Cobra for $9 for a tulip (Either 8.5 or 10 oz if I remember correctly.) There prices have always been a bit above what they should be but there selection makes up for it.
