Is Amberg a worthy beer destination? I see it has a few well established breweries in town, and some others not too far away. Our group is thinking of spending two days/nights there in May. Has anyone visited there? Are the beers worthwhile? The town itself looks interesting enough.
Yes. It grieves me to say that Amberg is actually better than Regensburg in terms of beer. It's a quaint little town of about 45000 people and they have 5 breweries in town and about 15 more in the surrounding Amberg-Sulzbach County.
I have rather enjoyed visiting Amberg during a few trips.... Nice place, and good bier, though I miss the old Malteser bier way back when.... Prosit!
