Ahhhh yes. Another negative AB-InBev thread. Seems this site promotes discussion of AB-InBev more than ANY OTHER brewery/conglomerate.

OK, Bud/America in decline for years cannibalized in part by Bud light--- Bud Light still number one seller in USA. Craft doing better and better but AB/InBev marketshare seems to continue to grow by acquisitions. Curious what their total US percent is now.

I know this is an open forum for discussions but one day about 4 weeks ago, 4/10 threads were some sort of discussion regarding AB/InBev products or bashing the company. Don't get it. I am all for awareness and discussing how the beer business affects us and sure InBev is the elephant in the room. Educating folks on practices/monopolies that can hurt "small beer" see very appropriate for this site but these petty threads are, well petty.

According to their own website, AB's current US market share is 45.8% (Beer Marketers Insights puts it at 43.6%).

AB, even before InBev's takeover, never quite reached 50% in the US, they hit 49.something twice in the 2000s. Since they had to spin-off the Labatt brands here, the addition of the other InBev brands had very little effect on their total US share.

Pretty sure they haven't seen an up year for market share since the AB-InBev deal, but the yearly loss is typically less than 1 percent.

Last estimates I've seen for their "crafty" brands have them just approaching 1 million barrels in total, so at best between 1-2% of their total US sales.

Corporations are undoubtedly concerned over long term gains in market share, sustainability, and customer loyalty, etc. But I would be shocked to find out that they were less concerned about the short term ROI for this marketing campaign. From what I've read, ABI is all about immediate gains; why would they not be? It's what drives Brito. It's exactly what will happen after the mega merger is consummated, and what the shareholders logically expect.

Been looking for America cans since I heard of the campaign. Still not seen them. I want a 32oz but any size will do.

    Enjoy

Obviously not a cat owner. The live cat bounce is unexpectedly falling from a height when you lose your balance, landing on your feet because you're a cat, and sauntering off with your nose in the air all "Yeah, I meant to do that". Maybe like BCBS?

They shipped the remaining stock to Canada and Europe where they are bound to sell

"Actually a dead cat bounce is what would happen if you threw a dead cat over the side of the Empire State Building"... "It will hit the sidewalk."... "It will bounce, though not very high."

Actually, no, it will explode from the inside upon impact leaving just a spray-cloud of blood, crushed bone, and torn tissue. It will essentially vaporize.

On another note, is there any chance this has been shipped to Rio for the Olympics?

IIRC the official beer for the Rio Olympics is an AmBev brand. Given that AmBev virtually dominate the Brazilian marketplace I wouldn't expect think much "America" would get there, even though the brands are all owned by the same company.

You'll be looking for a while, I'm not aware that AB has ever packaged a 32 oz can of Budweiser....They have 32 oz bottles but...

FWIW, I think the bottles/cans that say "America" are only in 12 oz sizes, the 16 oz and 25 oz cans I've seen all have a red and white striped look with the Statue of Liberty and the normal Budweiser bow tie and name (same packages as they did last summer). I don't think they changed the packaging on anything larger.

I'm sticking to my story that the bottles at least look sharp, if you're looking for a desk ornament, I'd look for the bottles.

I don't understand how they figured that calling the beer "America" and playing on patriotic tendencies was a good method of converting millennials. Millennials grew up in a (comparatively) borderless world, and have the lowest American patriotic pride of all over-21 generations.

You want to appeal to millennials? This isn't the way. I expect the next round of A-B branding will be of the "How Do You Do Fellow Kids?" variety - let's go out and get a sixxer of #winning and a pint of #squadgoals

Just did a google search and the cans look just like the bottles. I have seen the R/W/B Statue cans but they are more enamel colored and still say bud.

    Enjoy

:astonished: I clearly linked to the sources - AB and Beer Marketers Insights - and they are even in your quote of my post.

This make sense. Actually Bud is very available in Europe and even on small groceries shelves. If I am not mistaken, its being sold as the best beer from America, uh uh.. But not under that name. Its just 'Budweiser'.

Bud is a mediocre AAL, sure. Ill still have it over Heineken.

About the price, which is usually how people decide if they purchase or not. Count ~5€ for a sixer of Bud in Europe (~$6) which really make it way more affordable than most other American brews of choice as mentioned by the OP.

Sure, if a sixer of SNPA was this price here and as much available, it would be a hit.

Budweiser is no longer an American owned company. I will never buy there American beer. It is a complete joke.
