I wanted to gauge the availability of American craft beer. If you could name a few you'd find, ie Sixpoint or Brooklyn, and where, that would be great.

    Cheers!

    Try Slowbeer:

Don't expect anything to be cheap and don't bother with hop forward IPA's that really should be consumed within 3 or 4 weeks of bottling.

I'm guessing you're interested in east coast stuff you can't find in Cali?

There's quite a bit of Founders and Sixpoint around, which shouldn't be much trouble to track down.

Purvis, near Slowbeer. Some at Chapel Street Cellars. Some more at Blackhearts and Sparrows (Flemington, Prahran, Brunswick), and I believe Grape and Grain (but have not been there yet, just reports from friends.

In addition to places already named: Caulfield Cellars, Prince Wine Essendon, Chapel Cellars (some surprising stuff like Prairie Hop, Smuttynose, Dark Horse - but watch for dates).

Had something from these in the last year or so:
Abita, Alesmith, Eel River, Lost Coast, Stone, Bronx, Stillwater, Avery, Great Divide, Founders, Golden Road, Dark Horse, Deschutes (a few new things have just arrived, including the Abyss), Anderson Valley, Drakes, Rogue, Pretty Things, Anchor, Sixpoint, Ommegang, Kentucky, Oskar Blues, Brouwerij West, Lightening, Caldera, Ballast Point, Prairie, Westbrook, Clown Shoes, Brooklyn, Hopworks, Mad River, Smuttynose, Dark Horse, Sierra Nevada, Lost Abbey and Port Breweing, Maui, New Belgium, Lagunitas, Firestone Walker, Lakefront, Jester King, Mission, Coranado, Devil's Canyon, Cigar City, Goose Island, Southern Tier, BridgePort, Dogfish Head, Anchorage, Heretic, Karl Strauss, Weyerbacher, Element, Ass Kisser.

Ah... you guys are killing me. Spent about 3 months in Melbourne in 2012... and seriously missing the places mentioned above. Chapel St Cellars was our closest bottle shop. Rod and Joanne were always great to us. Slowbeer, Purvis, Acland, and Blackhearts and Sparrows are all great suggestions. Also, Smith St. Cellars in Fitzroy was pretty good as well.

    Cheers,
    Lee

Keep an eye on Acland in the coming month or so, should be some insane US beers coming thru. Same goes for us (for you Perth BA's).

Any more info? Haven't been there for 5 or 6 years, so can't see myself keeping an eye on them for a whole month...
