Thanks for the recommendations! I've had and enjoyed the Andechser Doppelbock, would be happy to see that one available locally. I don't mind driving a bit to go find the beer I'm looking for, so if you've got names of specific stores/chains that have a better selection, please share.

I will find myself in Schwetzingen at some point soon, I am sure (my wife grew up there). We always hit the local brewpub there for a meal and some beers (I like the hefe, even though it always smells like sulfur, probably just cranking it out and serving it too fresh).

My go-to Getränkmarkt in that area is the Alldrink in Schwetzingen at Hockenheimer Landstr. 4-6, just off of Highway 6. They have Andechser, some Weltenburger, Schneider and Weihenstephaner, as well as some decent seasonal stuff.

In Germersheim, the Getränke Gebele at Trommelweg 10a is pretty decent. It's small, a little tough to find, but they have some interesting stuff occasionally.

Hope that helps! If you find any others in the area with interesting stuff, I'd love to hear about it.

Just an idea: talk to your local Getraenkemarkt owner and ask him for a master list of what he can get. Many times they source from larger distributors but only carry what is being sold in their area, but can get a multitude of beers for you. Only downfall is that you would have to commit to an entire case. Upside: at German prices, that's not such a huge stretch for your wallet.
