Does anybody have any recommendations for more traditional lagers (any style) made in the US?

I hear Victory's Braumeister series is a little more European than Prima Pils, but you almost never hear about it on this site. I have been enjoying fresh (1 month old) Pilsner Urquell from the brown bottles and it tastes great. Any American pilsners that can match it?

VBP is AMAZING. Almost never see it locally for growlers, only in bars. Shame.

I actually consider Kona Longboard to be an excellent American lager. I'm not keen on supporting them...but sometimes it fits the bill

I have posted a list of my favorite Victory Pilsner beers many times and that list includes a number of the Braumeister series of beers.

The ‘challenge’ is that the Braumeister series beers are draft only and lately (the past 1-2 years) I have only found them on tap at the Victory Brewpub (Downingtown) and the Victory Beer Hall (South Philly across the street from Citizens Bank Park).

“Victory: Hip Czech, Braumeister Pils – Sladek, Braumeister Pils – Hallertauer Mittelfruh, Braumeister Pils – Saaz, Braumeister Pils – Tettnang, Braumeister Pils – Spalt, Prima Pils”

    Cheers!

River West Lager from Milwaukee's LakeFront Brewery is a fine, malty lager. Very European!

There are some very good lagers brewed in the U.S., but the majority of them are very regional -- meaning difficult to get nationwide, let alone in Canada.

Are all/most of the Victory Braumeister Pilsners slightly hazy? The one I had, Sladek, had a distinct haziness to it.

Here's a list I recently posted in the "What's Your Favorite Local Lager" thread. You need to run away from New England, Sam.

    Goose Island, Chicago: Oktoberfest.
Sprecher, Milwaukee: Black Bavarian, Maibock, Oktoberfest, Summer Pils.
Lakefront, Milwaukee: Big easy Maibock, Riverwest Stein, Eastside Dark.
Capital, Madison: Maibock, Oktoberfest, Blonde Doppelbock, Dark Doppelbock, Autumnal Fire, Winter Skål.
Wisconsin Brewing, Madison: Amber Lager, Maibock, Ol' Reliable.
New Glarus, New Glarus: Hometown Blonde, Two Women, Yokel.
Delafield Brewhaus: Fruhlingzeit Maibock, Mandarina Pilsner.
Point Brewing: Einbock Maibock, Oktoberfest, Whole Hog Imperial Pilsner.

I just went through a case of Sunshine Pils that was pretty straight forward and delicious. NEBCO has Elm City Pilsner. They import the malt and hops from Germany. And anything by Sierra Nevada (Nooner, Summerfest, Kolsch) is always great but more "American". Meaning bigger versions of the traditional German style. I would say Troegs SP and New England Brewing Elm City are closer to a traditional German Pilsner with Sunshine being easier to find.

Oh, Fat Head's Jack Straw and Great Lake's The Wright Pils are great too. Great Lakes has amazing world class lagers.

I love lagers, and luckily there are some decent American made ones that distribute to Ohio. I list some of my favorites in no particular order...
    Bell's - Lager and Consecrator
Great Lakes - Dortmunder Gold and Eliot Ness
    Stoudt's Pils
    Victory Prima Pils
Sierra Nevada - Nooner and Kolsch (technically an ale but similar flavor profile)

The series are Keller beers, unflitered, so yes to varying degrees I would guess (I only had 2)

He's in Ontario, so distro might be a problem. Old Mecklenburg is great, but distro outside Charlotte is scarce. Victory makes great Pils, Neshaminy Creek makes two great Pils, Troegs Makes a great Pils. Dortmunder Gold is a great drinking beer. No shortage of great beers.

Great Lakes discontinued brewing Wright Pils.

I guess it was not selling well for them?

    Cheers!

Thanks for the info. It has been a while since I have had it. A friend of mine picks up GLs and Fat Head's for me in Ohio.

Schells firebrick sam Adams Boston lager for Vienna lagers.
Flywheel was a good pilsner I would try it if you can.
Honestly most local breweries will have a good lager or two you just got to find them.

pretty much anything that High point makes, only issue is that they're bit hard to get outside of Jersey and the surrounding area

    Great Lakes Dortmunder.

I know others won't agree, but I do like Brooklyn's lager ice cold on a hot day.......
