I know I'm a little late to this game, but I have to shout out to @OldSock for this book. Been home brewing for about 12 years. Not much of a book guy (more a throw it into the kettle and see what happens type). Picked up a copy of American Sour Beers to give as a gift and now I have to find a new gift. Just skimming it was worth the purchase price. I'll stop now before I go into full-on fanboi mode. Seriously good work!
I agree, although I rather like to read up on my hobby as much as I can. American Sour Beers is an excellent reference. I will be using it for many years to come!
Cheers guys! I've been amazed by the response from both homebrewers and pro-brewers. Had a blast last week at GABF, signing books, and chatting with the guys who taught me how to brew (Palmer, Daniels, Mosher, Zainasheff, Papazian, Hieronymus etc.). I also can't thank all of the brewers who talked to me for the book enough. I learned so much writing it, which hopefully comes across while reading it.
I noticed you are coming to Houston soon for a signing, are going to be anywhere else while you're here?
I don't think that's good for the book. although, let me know if it works. I'll brew anything once. (great book, I agree) cheers-- --Michael
No big plans other than Dixie Cup. Hopefully enough time Friday and Sunday to hit a couple places around town, we'll see.
You should try out Nobi Public House down near NASA, the manager is a home brewer and a huge fan of your book. That and it's close to me, lol.
Indeed a good book. I've ramped up my sour beer production and have 4 beers now going in a range of aging, and this book is good reference, and it's a good tool to spark some creativity.
