American Sour just hit the tasting room according to FB, and will see limited distro.
I can take a trip up to Tampa this weekend but who knows if they will stay in stock until then...
Hope they come to SE Florida if they sell out.

It looks like it'll be available at the Cigar City/Rebel House Beer dinner next week with Wayne Wambles, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some bottles available. I'll do my best to get a couple and let you know.

Damn that sounds awesome, I'd go if I wasn't going to Oakland that day.

Just out of curiosity, how much are these per bottle? Thinking about running over there this weekend if they still have some.

Is it smoked? Anyone got more details on the beer? We also have a NC beer called American Sour that's a Flanders red by Natty Greenes. Could eventually be an issue because of that.. Got two otw tho thanks to a friend in Tampa. Very curious as to what exactly it is.

Not positive, but I believe it's just cedar aged, not smoked.

It's part of Cigar City's Humidor Series. They describe it as "an American Sour Ale aged on Spanish Cedar".

It's an IPA they aged on cedar. Not the typical sour at all IMO and frankly as much as I wanted to like it I couldn't. It's peppery, hoppy but at the end of the day not what I want in a sour.

IPA? I don't think so. I had it on tap just a few minutes ago. It is really nice! Light sour with a really nice amount of cedar not over kill. The spicy cedar balances really well with the lacto. I don't really get any hops or know where IPA would come from...

I think it is absolutely fantastic. The cedar compliments the tartness well, it's not at all overpowering like the Humidor IPA can be. I did not get a lot of hops either, to me it tasted more like a Lacto Guava minus Guava plus a subtle hint of Cedar.

I was really curious how this would work, even skeptical to a degree. But i was pleasantly surprised, perhaps even shocked a bit. It's a really great sour ale, i will be drinking this one a lot.

You sure you weren't drinking Humidor IPA?

I will agree with Outsidah in one thing, and that is this is not a typical sour.

And that's what i love most about it. Who wants to drink the same boring shit all the time?

That's what one of the CCB employees told me unless I misunderstood.

Yup - I'm sure. I have that one at home.

Well - I agree with you I like when breweries play with the traditional formulas and take risks in making some different. Doesn't always work for everyone, but you can appreciate what was being done.

I love CCB's beers generally speaking but this one just wasn't for me.
