Lately i got into sours. I really enjoy JK boxers revenge and i liked a lot Love Child #3. What i was wondering is, what kind of other good sours in that style i can get in DFW. It seams that most of the American Wild Ales are not released in DFW the only other one i have seen is BRUX. any other ones that i should try ?

Brux isnt sour its 100% Brett so it isn't sour. As far as American made sours go they are hard to come by in Texas...basically JK and Freetail, although a hand full of others have tried their hand at it no others that I can think of have produced distributed sours...that were not infected. Your best bet it going to be trying
    Petrus
    Rodenbach
    Timmermans Oude geueze
Maybe some others I can't think of but others can

Here's a list of "American Wild Ales" (as per the BA style list) that have been in TX or might be soon. I'm excluding ALL Freetail brewing as you won't find it in DFW (until the law changes).

    (512) Wild Bear
    Odio Equum
    Love Child No. 3
Boulevard / Sierra Nevada Terra Incognita (SOON!)
Fuyu (Funkhouse Series Vol. 1) (Only at Flix Brewhouse)
    Lolita (Not currently in stores)
    Juliet (Not currently in stores)
    RU-55
    Ol' Oi! (not released yet)
    Funk Metal Sour Barrel-Aged Stout
    Das Überkind Organic Vieille Saison
Buddha's Brew (first batch is probably long gone in DFW)
    Boxer's Revenge
    Atrial Rubicite (not released yet)
    Prairie Gold (Possibly soon)
    WT3F
    Shipwrecked
    Scots Gone Wild
    Imperium
    Brux Domesticated Wild Ale

Italics means you may be able to find it in DFW.

Mikkeller - It's Alive varients (I don't think these have actually been in TX)
A couple New Belgium "Lips of Faith" series has been classified as "American Wild Ale" None of them are currently on the market. La Folie is a good sour, but it's a Flanders bruin.

Your best bet would be to try the Belgian sours that are here. Stuff like Petrus, Duchesse De Bourgogne, Rodenbach, etc. Some people don't care for Flanders reds or browns. I much prefer American Wild Ale or lambics/gueuzes.

There are a handful for Berliner Weisse around, and it seems that more TX breweries are experimenting with sours, but are perhaps a few years away.

Did you actually sort that or just go through and pick out the ones listed under that style that you knew were in Southwest? Would love to be able to sort by best by style and within southwest region...

I sorted the "American Wild Ale" list by brewery, and then went through manually with copy + paste. That's why the order is (512) > Avery > JK > Sierra Nevada

And for OP, this is a joke. Series of brews that are supposedly all infected making then "sours". Just don't want you going searching for these although some say they have turned into decent "sours".

American Wild Ales are still kinda rare in Texas... I recommend trading myself.

Not an American Wild Ale, but easily found is Lindeman's Gueuze Cuvee Rene, which is a pretty fantastic Gueuze. It has sour characteristics, but is... quite a bit... funkier than your normal AWA, so I warn ya there. It sits around because of the general consensus that most Lindeman's lambics are a sugary joke, but this one is actually the real deal.

Stay away from that Timmerman's shit. Blech.

It's not an American Wild Ale but if you're looking for brett beers (like Brux) as well as sours for I can recommend Green Flash Rayon Vert. Not overly dry or funky, nicely balanced. I don't know if it's as readily available in DFW as it is in Austin.

Interesting. Always stayed away from the lindemans but really want to try some gueze. Will have to pick this one up. How's the kriek cuvee Renee?

Also excellent, but we don't get that one here in TX as far as I know. Just the Gueuze.

Yeah, try it... trust me, CR is the best one we get here. Cheap too... $11-$12 pretty much everywhere.

I second Cuvee Rene and would add Petrus Aged Pale, Rodenbach, Cuvée Des Jacobins Rouge for sour styles easy to find in Texas. I saw Das Uberkind listed but not Das Wonderkind, so I'd probably add that as well.

As for Rayon Vert, although I find it delicious, Ive always considered that more of a West Coast Belgian Pale Ale than a sour. Though it does have a bit of a tart bite.

Not a "wild" ale but La Folie by New Belgium is a decent sour and you may even still see that on shelves.

I know you said in DFW but if you can trade try to find someone that will give you any of the Russian River wild ales like Supplication, Beautification, Temptation, or Consecration. Those are some of my favorite wild ales.

I traded a guy once for La Roja by Jollly Pumpkin.. wow that was great!

Sour in the Rye is pretty easy to trade for.

Try to find a Jester King Funk Metal.. that stuff is insane!
