Heading to Ames for a concert at Stephens in about a week. Anyone know of some good places to buy beers? Was hoping to grab some stuff I can't get in Missouri. Also, it's been a couple of years since I've been to Stephens for a show and can't remember if they sell beer during the show. Anyone have any info on that? Thanks, take it easy.
Cyclone Liquors is the place in Ames. It is just down the road from Stephens and by far has the best selection. I don't have any info on Stephens selling beer. It has been a while since I have been.
And if there isn't something there you can always check the Hy-Vee right next to it. You seriously don't even have to drive between the two, just walk across a few rows of the parking lot and the liquor/beer section is on the side closest to Cyclone.
Stephens does sell beer during shows. If I remember correctly, it's only Boulevard Wheat and Coors Light and the lines are slow moving. I'll be going to WSP as well and I'll definitely be swinging by Cyclone on my way there.
I'll also be heading to Panic. Stephens sells beer during the show but they have a pretty early cut off time. The selection has always been bad in the past
When you're at Cyclone Liquor, make sure you go all the way back. There is a little hallway in the back left that goes back to the "bottle" area. It's not terribly obvious.
