I suppose I'm in the minority (which is fine), but I just don't get down with the skull stuff. I feel the same way about Trve. Beer is good. Hate their whole motif.

That's fair. I mostly like it because of the incorporation of the trees. I'm not big on skulls either, but I like Silvaticus' logo. I think part of it was the glasses.

Same. It's the trees inside that make it for me.

My 4 year old loves the logo.

    Calls them "SkullTreeBar"

Okay time for a reassessment. Went early in the evening Saturday for a couple beers at Silvaticus. Had the Baltic Porter and the Barrel-Aged farmhouse ale. I thought the BP was outstanding. The BAFA had a nice graininess that I was digging and a nice little tannic finish that I liked. I would have loved a bit of acidity in the finish, but that's a lame criticism because that's not the beer. It's not an acidic beer.

    I'm in on Silvaticus.

Do any of you know how much do they charge for the Crowlers?¡? (planning to bring them back as a present to watch the Superbowl at NYC)

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome aboard.

Was there today - the “Winter Pete” - a Rye fest-style Lager was very interesting. And the Sovereign Lager was as always spot-on.

Oblivion dark lager back on tap @ Silvaticus, both on nitro & regular. Prefer the regular but the nitro seems to be damn popular. Either way a fantastic beer.

Wife and I inhaled a Nitro Oblivion each on valentines. Such a good beer. I could live out my days drinking their Pilsner, the hoppy lagers and oblivion.

My 4 year old now calls them Skull Tree Bar. Think he likes the logo as much as their pretzel

Bumping thread to pimp Silvaticus’ new Doppelbock (Silvator). Great beer as expected from these guys. Best of style in New England IMO.

Forgot to bring this to a beer tasting yesterday. All for me, I guess. Crowler format less than ideal for that beer though.

hell yes, Baron Von Smoke is one my favorite rauchbiers and these guys are one of the few breweries I trust to do the style justice - hope to try this new one soon

I'm overdue for a visit, I think, to Silvaticus. I do wish the take-home options were in six-packs rather than crowlers. We're talking an $18/four pack, which I guess is par for the course in the (D)IPA circuit. But, come on, I can get me some Notch for much less (and, I suppose, my Oxbow for much more).

Yeah, but the Notch stuff brewed in Salem is pretty much the same price. But I agree, I’d like to see cheaper crowlers.

I'd also like for Silvaticus to do better with ... well everything beer media/marketing-wise.

I searched their Instagram today and their latest draught update was 5/17. Even there, the beers lack description. "Petite saison" and "Boat Beer." Now, this is okay on Instagram. Even on that little board they have in the taproom, it's fine. Their bartenders can explain the nuances.

But go onto their website and click the link that says "The Beer" and it brings you to a generic "Belgian Farmhouses and German Lagers are the main inspiration ..." There's no breakdown of the beer. No list. Nothing. I find this unacceptable.

I don't even need that much. One sentence. It seems so.fucking.easy.

Y Know; Boat Beer; 4.5% German-style lager with noble hops and a slight chalky finish. (I don't know if this is true, just working off memory).

Also: I should know what's on tap every single day. I shouldn't have to backlog two weeks.

Agreed, wanted to do a run to grab a crowler for a buddy of mine a month or so ago and the most recent posting of their draft list was 6 weeks old. Far from the only small town brewery to have this issue and it is actually enough to stop me from the visiting a taproom if I'm going out of my way, just kind of a pain to have to call and ask the brewery what they have available when it take less than a minute for someone to post a photo of the board to their website or instagram at the beginning of each week at least.

They have the descriptions on the paper taplist they have in house. I assume this is typed on a computer and then printed (maybe they use a typewriter?). Can’t be that hard to copy and paste that onto your website or social media pages at the same time.
