Ok, let's get specific and give the LA BAs a challenge. I have ridiculously tight criterium to meet my goal. I'm going to be in Anaheim on Thursday and Friday. I won't have a rental car until 9am on Saturday morning. We get the car, then head for the coast. Final destination, Big Sur, with a stop at Barrelworks on the way. My question is this: Where do I stop to pick up some nice bottles in between somewhat early on a Saturday morning? My first thought was Hollongshead, but that's a no-go on a Saturday. First time LA visitor. Planning to take the 5 up to the 10, then out to the coast. Any help is appreciated!
5 to the 10, that is too simple to get through LA. May want to take the 5 south to the 55, then take the 405 up to the 10 (in all seriousness, the 5 to the 10 can be horrendous). Vendome in fullerton can sometimes have stuff, what type of stuff are you looking for? If you have a phone with traffic definitely use that, each day a different freeway seems to be backed up while another is pretty clear. I don't live there anymore but I think provisions marketplace is opening soon? It could be a possibility.
Provisions marketplace in the orange circle opens Wednesday. By Thursday it may have been picked somewhat clean. Vendome Fullerton is a good recommendation. Mr K's by the Bruery is legit but not fantastic. Hacienda in Brea is pretty solid as well, and there's a total wine pretty much on the way. If you have the time, you seriously must hit up Noble Ale Works.
It is about two hours from Anaheim to Ojai, and this place opens at 11am on Saturdays: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17490/
