Anchor Aweigh! (July 28th - 30th)

I just gifted my last '22 OSA to our vicar a couple weeks ago, but I think they still might have a few singles of Porter at the grocery store. I'll be checking tomorrow. (Who knows, maybe Sapporo will see Anchor trending on BA, notice the uptick in sales, and decide to resume production. )

 

I have four Anchor Porter's left in the fridge. Bought them right at the brewery here in San Francisco. Drink now, or "cellar"?

How long will they be good at fridge temp?

 

I'm generally a "drink now" type of guy, but I'd say open one up for this scheduled tasting and post about it in the thread. Open the next one in the fall, the next in the winter... and then you can decide if you want to open the last one in the spring or hang on to it for a souvenir (save the one with the nicest label for last).

 

This entire story is very sad. It does not speak well of modern beer drinkers knowing and caring of truly historical brands. I have many tales of Anchor Steam Beer......

 

The owners of the bar are from California, believe they have rotated Anchor in and out since they first opened this place, it has been just over a year now. They owned a bar in California, but I can't remember where now (somewhere in South California), off the top of my head, but recently moved into my area. They were always fans of Anchor.

 

Lending a little hand to Mr. Barber with a bump of this request.

I know it's a fine line when discussing Anchor these days, but when in doubt -- I'd say defer to the previous news thread.

 

I think you need to retitle the thread to Anchors away.

I did purchase a 6 pack of Old Foghorn last weekend in WI. packaged 2/10/2023, 10.2% Abv.
I'm not sure if I ever had this beer before but may have 10 or 20 years ago. I haven't tried one yet.

Hope to find some Anchor beers for the tasting. Need Chicago leads.

 

For those in the Milwaukee area, Discount Liquor in Waukesha still has mixed 12 packs. Only ones I’ve seen around.

 

Hopefully you have better luck than me, all of the my local beer retailers are depleted of Anchor beers. I was specifically looking for the Porter but absolutely no Anchors brands there.

Well that may be it for my contributions, I haven't seen packs of Anchor around here in years.

 

Stay away from Binny's -- I mentioned previously that they've removed all Anchor products from their web site. Two spots up this way have no inventory.

 

Not sure you saw me mention in the other thread, but Binny's has removed Anchor products from their web inventory. Nothing in physical stock in either location up near me.

Interested to see what you find.

 

I'll check with the beer department manager and see what he thinks. As is, he brought in Spaten Okto early, so I don't want to rile him too much.

Which DG spot are you talking about, BTW? Right on Butterfield off 355?
