Anchor Brewing Releases New Fall Seasonal Beer: BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red

Article says release on Aug 5th, but I already picked up a 6pk today.

Sad news for some, this beer is replacing Humming ale in the U.S.

I won't lie- I am totally bummed about how the 'availability' of Humming Ale has 'changed'. (is that freakin' Newspeak or what?)

In other news, I think I will love this beer.

I am such a freakin' Gemini!

I am super excited about this. Nelson Sauvin Red Ale + maple syrup. Wow.

yeah, given how well anchor blends dark malty beer with citra in brekles, i'd imagine this is another expertly designed beer.

huh, america really slept on humming ale. fresh humming ale is revelatory, both regarding how great nelson sauvin hops are, and how much more there can be to a pale ale than its hop profile. i wrote letters to anchor about how excellent that beer was.

I agree with Pahn, peeps needed to get out abd buy more humming ale! That was a great showcase of the NS hop. Probably my second favorite behind Alpines offering. Affordable at $10 a sixer too.....what a loss this is. If this was in 22 oz bottles with a 7.99 price tag or the words LIMITED RELEASE it would be a huge hit. Too bad.

I never got to try Humming Ale and am bummed about that. No lie, but six pack of it hit the local shelves AFTER Anchor Xmas last year. I decided not to have my intro to that beer be an out of date one. I was so excited to try it too last year, as it was only in '12 that I discovered my love for Nelson Sauvin hops.

But this one sounds awesome. I really, really, really hope it makes it here fresh and ASAP.

Besides Anchor's Christmas Ale and foghorn, I haven't given their other beers a try. I always saw the humming ale on shelves but the look didn't go much further than that.

I am excited to be looking for their Bigleaf maple autumn red - I've been looking for other Fall beers that aren't pumpkin based. I can't wait for Southern Tier's Harvest ale to come out.

Really looking forward to this. I'm going to try and track some down today.

Anchor produces solid brews across the board.

Looking forward to this Fall seasonal, as well. Their Summer Ale was kind of a disappointment...

If they can get rid of the red ale flavor this would be interesting. But not as a replacement for Humming Ale. I want that back.

I tired one this weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The nose is huge maple, but the maple takes a backseat to the hops in the taste. A very nice drinkable and complex beer.

Just picked this up today. Very interesting beer. The maple syrup comes through as a subtle sweetness, and melds well with the hops. Very glad I gave this a try.

No more humming! That sucks, I just hope the implementation of Nelson hops in this new beer is as delicious as Humming was.
Humming was in my top 3 favorite beers that nobody talked about.

Just tried the BigLeaf last evening. Really nice beer, nice bit of maple sweetness accompanied by some nice hoppiness. Really nice balance.
This beer is very sessionable and you can down 3 or 4 without a thought.
Great new brew and a value priced 6pk,from one of craft brewing's pillars!
    Keep on coming Anchor!
    Cheers!
