Sorry but I didn't think this one really hung together all that well. Very nice hoppy aroma, but the taste seemed muddled; very little maple character, the fruity hop notes in the nose didn't really manifest themselves as much more than bitterness in the taste, and even the malt seemed a bit weak for a contemporary red ale. This wasn't terrible by any stretch but after splitting a six over the weekend I don't feel any need to go back for more. Ill always give an Anchor beer a shot so I was excited to try this but ultimately found myself a little letdown.

Why don't we get Humming Ale anymore?

No mention of 'why' in the press release shown in the first post of this thread- just some vague statement about how it might return some day. I guess it just didn't catch on.

FWIW- Big Leaf does seem to have the sort of packaging that could draw people in, casual drinkers included. I think they did a nice job on the label, and it looks quite nice on the shelf. It's a nice beer- I wish them luck.

This one didn't do the trick for me. Not a bad beer by any stretch, but the flavors seemed disjointed, like they rushed this to production. I'm letting my remaining 4 bottles sit for a few months. Perhaps that will mellow it down some.

Big buying their Small beer quite a bit lately. Definitely a beer that seems to get more hate than acceptance, but I really enjoy it - and while I realize sixers of it are not really possible, I would love it if they were available.

    RIP Humming
